I took his Fantasy film class and I was amazed at how difficult it was. Obviously designed the course for students who care mainly about how to make films and not just loving the genre; However, if you state your opinion in class, he talks down to you like you are a child. Same with the essays. Save your money and skip this professor.

awesome professor, he is the reason i changed my major from science to film. is very passionate about film, you can literally feel his excitement about the films he shows, it makes you excited for his lectures, i never get tired in his lectures, he asks for opinions too,not everyone does that, not too much homework, a few essays and comment sheets

There are a total of 4 papers and he is a really hard marker. Points out every little mistake. This is probably the hardest first year course you could take. If you didn't learn anything about Shakespeare in high school, DON'T TAKE THIS! You're only setting yourself up for failure taking this course as the language is hard to understand.

Honestly his lectures are interesting and he does show a lot of passion. Unfortunately he is a very hard marker and even opened the class saying that we would all get a grade shock.

Great prof. He's knowledgeable, passionate about his subjects, and guides discussion well, while always allowing students to participate and contribute. In my experience, he's a fair marker. He marks for content above all, and I have received A's on papers with organizational issues because he felt the discussion and content inside was high quality

Dr. Annandale is a pretty decent professor. His lectures can be a little dry but you can tell he is very invested in the success of his students and covers the material thoroughly. Be extremely careful while writing papers, he will catch absolutely any mistake you make and he is NOT an easy grader. Overall I do like him but be ready to take notes.

amazing proff, you can tell he really loves film the way he gets excited while talking about it. he is tough on grading papers though, so if your not good at essays you have to work hard. the book is needed but only certain parts but its a fun book anyway ;D liked him so much I'm taking 2 more classes with him

I greatly enjoyed Annandale as a film professor. You can tell he has a genuine interest and is very skilled at getting his points and ideas across despite his constant use of "uhh" as many other reviewers have pointed out. I wouldn't call him a tough marker so much as one who just doesn't put up with crap essays. Definitely would take more by him.

In this class you look at so many poetry, short stories, novels and plays (for my class it was about 60+ poems, 2 plays, 3 novels, etc) and you have to look through all of them for the final exam because he doesnt mention much about what's going to be mostly covered. He also doesnt give you a clear criteria of what he's looking for in your essays.

This man is really smart but his lectures are a drag, uses "uh" alot in every sentence, super hard marker, skips your name in attendance if you don't show up. Pretty sure he takes umbrage to the students that don't come to his class, make sure you go or you'll fail. only take this course if you have to lol..

Attendance is mandatory because 10% of your grade is based on class participation. He begins most sentences with "uhh" or includes the word somewhere at least two times. This is a hard class because of the amount you have to read and prepare for, for the final exam. There are four essays overall and for the final 3 essays in 3 hours.

I got an A plus in every other course except this one. but i ended up with a b in the course. He does not tell you what he is looking for in is essays. The marking is ambiguous (no rubric) he just gives u a letter grade. Sometimes he gave me an A sometimes he gave me a D when i put in the same amount of work. He is SO boring! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

He's the most boring prof ever. It was very difficult to be engaged and enjoy the content of his lectures as there was absolutely NO participation encouraged. Every second word was 'uh'. COME ON YOU'RE AN ENGLISH PROFESSOR.

Dr. Annandale really is a great prof. He is approachable, friendly, excitable, and funny during lectures. However, he is a very, very hard marker. The other reviews are certainly true. I have only ever gotten an A or B in my other classes, so his class was frustrating. I did my best, and it seemed to not be enough. This is a first year course!

Prof. Annandale was an incredible instructor. He always kept the class engaged and and always laughing. He was very approachable, but you had to do the work. He never settled for poor papers, and he shouldn't have to. He did however always let you hand in a draft to be marked before the final paper, and was always available if need be.

Gives very interesting lectures. Comes off as a bit condescending, but it's just because he is quite sarcastic/satirical (can be very funny). Asks students questions and expects well thought-out answers - will call you out if you don't know what you're talking about. He assigned great reading material (Harry Potter and Watchmen!). Loved his class!

An okay class overall. The teacher was a little monotone, but was there for the students who had questions and provided interesting lessons. The only issue I had was that we were given assignments(which were graded and affected our final grade) before the lessons on that particular topic. This made it impossible to apply what he taught us!
