Real smart man, but doesn't explain things in a way that aids student understanding... Doesn't test on the big picture so much as itty bitty details that he brushed over at one point or another... If you don't understand his lectures you're screwed because he doesn't follow the book (that we payed lots of money for) at all. Didn't like him one bit

Somewhat unclear. He often does not realize that he hasn't explained major themes of his lectures. Exams are ok if you take notes on every random thing he says in class and study. Very smart man, not the greatest teacher.

Easily one of the best plant biology professors at UVM - is interesting and amusing in his mannerisms, but really knows his stuff, especially in the field of tropical plants and ferns. Also is more than fair in his grading and examination techniques.

Very intelligent, is willing to help you. Hilarious sense of humor. Make sure you read your book before you come to class, uses powerpoint but doesn't rely on it, which is AWESOME. tests are kind of hard. if you go on into plants, do something with him. he knows his plants.
