Comment:
Close-minded, pedantic, and dogmatic. Terrible teacher, and not as smart as earlier raters think, IMHO. I took him a semester after declaring my philosophy major, and almost changed my mind after suffering through this class. Only "B" I earned as a philosophy major, and one of only three overall at SUNY New Paltz. Avoid if at all possible.

He is incredibly smart, we are all saying it, but that alone does not make you a good professor. I cut him no slack, he'd be just as effective as a teacher if he was instructing an empty room. He should just quit teaching, and keep writting, the page doesn't need to listen.

Impassioned, but very awkward and difficult to understand. He's very, very intelligent, but communicates poorly. That aside, he's a great guy, if a bit nervous around humans (whom he just hasn't quite got the hang of yet). Makes you work, but is a good teacher. Be cautiosly optimistic about him.

Can't count the number of times I fell asleep. He's smart, but doesn't motivate you to learn. Only wants you to regurgitate his own notes. There's a difference between appreciating Philo. and knowing how to teach it. Don't recommend him.

give this guy a break! he is extremely knowledgable and breathes philosophy! The readings can get a little heavy, but he gives you such detailed notes that they are no big deal.

He is a fine teacher, but I recommend that one is interested in philosophy. He certainly knows his stuff, and is helpful. he gives a lot of reading, but you can get by without it.

Let's just say that listening to this dude at 8:30 in the morning was torturous. supposedly this class is one of the more difficult ones on campus, so unless you absolutely love lucretius and all that, skip this class. He's nice enough but boring as hell.

This class is very boring. I dont recommend anyone to take this course unless you like Philosophy. You have to read about 5 different books and when you go to class he talks about what happen in the chapter. He is not big on homework you just have to read

Cutting the prof some slack, since this was a last minute class that morphed into existence. However - bring along a dry erase marker, He'll thank you for it.

Loves to hear himself talk, lectures are impossible to pay attention to, you will learn how to sleep with your eyes open. Grades on grammer. This class takes an enormous amount of energy.

Blankenship, Blankenship. This is a ONE credit class! why do we have presentations, essays, and a term paper bigger than that of my 4 credit class? Too much. You keep talking. If you can sit through the lecture, thats half the battle. Save yourself

he was totally into hearing himself talk instead of what or how his students learned. was unapproachable for help, seemed too elite for his own good. loves talking about his trips to italy! ergo, he brags.

He is like Ben Stein, but not funny. I can't stay awake in his class. The info doesn't sound too bad if it was an idependent study class. He is an ok guy, but he drives me nuts in class. Would rather take summer courses.
