Took him for 8 weeks Hist 111. VERY boring, but also very easy. Pay attention twice a week for 8 weeks, and if you study, you've got an A. Way better than what I hear about other History classes. 1 easy book report, two tests, and a BS paper at the end. Highly recommend him if history is required.

When I heard you got to watch videos, I thought it would be an interesting class... but they get old REALLY quick! He let us out early though. We skipped around a good bit... not cool in a history course. B/C of the skipping around, I had trouble remembering events in the order in which they really came. Many questions on tests we never discussed.

I had a hard time paying attention to him because of his style of lecture, plus I took an evening course. All I wanted to do was sleep through his class, but don't do that ... that's a no-no. He'll yell at you. You really need to study for his tests, but other than that it's not a bad class. He's pretty nice, just boring.

Attention slackers, he is easy, that is why I took him three times in the same semester. Interesting classes if you enjoy watching videos. There is some lecture in 409 but believe me that is actually welcomed instead of watching videos constantly. I got A's in all of his classes, study for the final but the midterm are easy as hell.

his method of lecturing sucks...he just rambles on. He'll tell you to remember certain things and they WILL be on the exam (along with about 50 questions that you've never heard). this class is not very easy unless you're good at history. really boring too, although the two papers are easy As

boring class. shows a lot of tapes and maps that are not in the text. book report and term paper that are both easy. class sucks, but he is a cool professor. will work with you. if you take notes from movies and write down most of what he says (if youre quick enough) you should do fine.

Very nice guy, but the text book was awful. he helps review each chapter though. attendence is taken, but class was not unbearable and he always let us out early. he either lectures or shows us videos on the subject. i am not a history person, but i got a B in the class.

I found this class rather frustrating. If you don't learn well without a textbook to back up lectures, then I don't recommend this class. I just couldn't learn the way the class was structured. If you do take this class, I definitely recommend getting the Chronology book if the book store has it in stock. It would have been nice to have. Nice guy!

I can't recommend Bowden enough. Enthusiastic, respectful/kind to students (unless you sleep in his class), and one of the smartest professors I've had. Really knows his stuff, and is very enthusiastic. The class isn't one you can brush off - but study and turn stuff in and you'll be ok.

This guy knows his stuff... his exams are a little tedious but they make up the majority of your grade. You have two writing assignments; a book report and a family history. both of them are easy enough. And for a guy that works for the grad school he is always available if you need him.
