It is clear he is passionate and loves his work but he could be a lot more accommodating. His night classes are unfair. 3 hours with no PowerPoint notes, just pictures. Some of us can't stay the full 3 hours each week and then I'm punished by having no notes to turn to.

Dr. Clark loves teaching and its very evident! But he is a really hard prof, his quizzes and exam was not easy but if you stay on top off your work, it shouldn't be too bad. I wouldn't recommend this course as an elective unless you really love english and are willing to dedicate a lot of time to it!

Dr. Clark is extremely engaging and for lack of a better word, truly inspirational. Although he can be extremely wordy and off-track, even dodging his main point, his lectures feel more like life lessons than anything. He will stare into your eyes and it seems as if he's seeing your soul. Interesting man that is very knowledgeable.

Absolutely phenomenal professor. Hilarious and stirring. I missed his lecture once because of unforeseen reasons, and I was pissed. Although, I do wish he opened the floor and asked questions in-lecture.

Comment:
If the English department was a political TV drama like House of Cards, Dr. Clark would killl it. He talks about his friendship with Henry Giroux, he wears a suit everyday. He looks into your eyes when he lectures and stirs something deep within your subconscious. Please don't take this lightly, the politics are deadly and the stakes high. Uh-ohhh.

Comment:
Dr. Clark was very intimidating the first few lectures, but I secretly suspect it's a strategy to weed out the slackers; people who are afraid of his high standards will likely drop the class early, leaving only the people who are serious. If you're struggling, go to his office hours (prepared and caught-up) and he'll offer good guidance.

It's been several years since I've taken a class with Dr. Clark and he still stands out to me as one of THE most engaging professors I have ever encountered. He's not easy but he sure is worth the work.

He is honestly one of the most engaging professors I've ever had. While he has high expectations of his students it's totally worth it, believe me the hard work pays off! Incredibly passionate about what he teaches and provides clear/helpful guidelines about what he is looking for in order to succeed.

Dr. Clark has been by far my favourite English prof at Mac. His interpretations of texts are so alive and engaging, it really shows how much passion he has for the subjects he teaches. He's very helpful outside of class, and so long as you do the readings, attend class and make use of the extra material he offers online you should have no problems.

Dr. Clark is the kind of professor you suspect writes favourable reviews of himself on ratemyprofs.com. If there was ever a word that summed up a man so succinctly, that word is "unctuous" for Dr. Clark.

He was the hardest English prof I have had, but I respect him for it. On the first day he told the class that he expected us to be on top of things, and that he would be hard. Very passionate professor who, although I struggled with the course, I loved his teaching. I never met a professor who seemed to care as much as he does.

Very demanding and intimidating...expect that every point you make will be challenged. That said he was a very interesting prof who changed the way I think about many issues...and he marks much more easily then you'd expect based on his demeanor in class. Overall a fantastic, but slightly terrifying, prof.

I took four different classes with Clark, and he really made me think; his critical theory courses are tremendously stimulating. That said, I am not crazy about him. He has a mysterious chip on his shoulder, and his self-righteousness is incredibly alienating. Even so, I recommend his classes.

I loved the class; Clarks passion for the material was inspiring. What I didn't appreciate was the arbitrary marking schemes, his attempts to intimidate.i think i have a love/hate relationship to this man.while i am perhaps a more critical thinker because of him, my selfesteem took quite a blow:( haha

Arrogant, silly man. Too full of himself to really know anything. Likes to use big words to hide lack of knowledge. Does not answer questions.
