I liked David. Some lectures are a little boring but the content is pretty straight forward.

He's not exactly the most engaging lecturer (OK, his lectures are pretty dry...), but at least his expectations are clear. He lays out specifically how to structure the paper, so make sure to follow it. His exams are also pretty predictable. If you go to class, he'll tell you some of the questions on it

Course content is interesting. Classes are fairly boring and most of the time he just reads from the slides. Found some of the facts he presented to the class to be incorrect as well.

Oh Edge. He is the first to admit his 'presentations' are outdated. No theory - this class is basically Asian economic history. The topic itself is interesting but the delivery is just really tedious. Readings are long, dense, and not always relevant, but you'll be heavily tested on them. Bless him, he's very kind, but so hopelessly oldschool.

DON'T SIT AT THE FRONT unless you don't mind dozing off or snoring. A great cure for insomnia! Easy stuff, good as gold, boring as hell.

He is a very monotonous lecturer. His Power Point slides had numerous spelling and grammatical errors.

Comment:
taught half the course with Ian McKendry, two different professors, this prof has a monotoned voice that doesn't really make the class sound appealing at all. although a nice guy and teaches interesting things, his voice is just too dull and never puts the microphone on his shirt so he speaks way too softly

Comment:
High expectations towards students that was uncalled for, along with no clear outline for students to follow. Not interested in helping students solve problems. But most importantly, overgeneralizes to a fault on issues and topics. Not suitable for teaching intro classes.

The class is taught by two profs.Edgington is such an adorable guy--His lectures are crystal clear and makes a dull subject seem interesting! The problem is the other prof...:s I would recommend taking this class if it weren't for the other guy.Involves one essay and two exams.Nice TAs!

People that suffer from insomnia should take this course before going on any medication. He could make a fortune if he sells pillows during class. Class is not that hard if you can stay awake. Most of the material is straight foward.

This course is all about the TERM PAPER and your PRESENTATION on that term paper. Personally, the most research I've ever done for a paper. Lectures have lots of substance, but the prof is not the most engaging. Attendance counts for marks. Assignments almost weekly. One plus: no midterm.

The strong part about the lectures is you get an outline for each class session. There is a strong emphasis on papers and presentations for grades. The prof shares his interests although the way he speaks can bore you. I thought he is a fair marker although not an easy marker. I'd recommend it to those interested in studying Japanese geography.

hated the class. contrary to what people say, it is NOT easy. just depends on the person. he was ok. somewhat unclear at times. outlines did help a lot. i don't care for the format of the class. photocopied articles and lectures are NOT enough...very hard

Decent lecturer (not super but you will not fall asleep either) with older data but it is still useful. Slightly easier than average midterm and essay, resulting in slightly higher marks. This was before Lay was also teaching this class however.

He looks a little bit like Mr. Bean :-) The best part of him is he will show you the outline of the lecture when it starts. This helps a lot.
