During one of our Lab assignments for this class, I had been writing down information and he had moved on to talking about something that was behind us, he took it upon himself to grab my arms and physically move me himself. I have lost all respect I hardly had for this prof. He was unapproachable and did not show fairness in grading. Unhelpful.

Comment:
Lectures were boring and tests and labs were hard for someone without a geography background. To be fair, he's passionate about his geography and most of his students aren't, but I still regret having taken this course for my lab science. I ended up failing the lab portion and retaking it with another professor to get a passing grade in the course.

He doesn't respect other people's views. He does not have much grace. He hears rumors that people say his class is easy and so tries to make it the hardest he possibly can, even thought this is only supposed to be a first level class. We all do not want to be there, we just have to take it because it is mandatory. You fail final, u fail class.

Prof. Jordan does an alright job of trying to communicate all the big ideas in a pretty broad course, but it can sometimes be hard to know what's important. Attendance is pretty important because he writes notes on the board and shows videos that end up on the midterms. Lab is the easiest of any of the lab sciences and is pretty interesting.

This class was not as easy as I had heard or expected. 100 level so covers EVERYTHING. You have to work for it! Especially labs! Seek help; TAs are great resources. I would have done even better if I had made the commitment to read the text book as it offers additional and detailed explanation. Material and lectures are interesting but broad.

I did not have a problem with this class and I enjoyed a few of the labs (taught by another prof), however my problems are with Jordan himself. I found him unapproachable, judgemental, and impatient when I didn't understand concepts when I asked him questions. I am not writing this to bash his character, but to argue that he's not good at teaching

I took this course to get my science credit out of the way. Honestly, I didn't enjoy it at all. I thought I might at the beginning, but after a while you just get frustrated with labs and the confusing midterms and his boring lectures. He knows that people take it because it's the 'easy' science and it seems as if he then tries to make it hard.

Teaches geo, basically the easier lab science that meets the core requirement. The labs are long but clearly outlined.

His lectures were always so confusing and boring. When you ask him a question his answers confuse you even more. Thankful that he had TAs because they were helpful.

Easy enough class, but his replies were often rude and he did not help during labs but instead made comments that I and many others found rude.

GEOG 383 is a challenging class (Geographic Data Analysis) but he is good at explaining the basics. He doesn't seem to enjoy answering questions - if they are dumb questions he gets impatient, and if they are smart questions he DEFINITELY beats around the bush and won't give you a straight answer. Prefers communicating in class, not emails.

Earth and Atmospheric Science...don't bother!! Do not know what I learned in that class. yes its possible to get an A but most lectures are boring, irrelevant and he does not seem that approachable. Luckily there was a TA for the Labs who was helpful and approachable. Maybe if you are a GEO major you will click.

Unhelpful and does not respond to emails. If you don't understand- too bad you fail. His exams are irrelevant to the notes. He is vague and when you ask him a question he will beat around the bush because he doesn't want to give you "the answer"- How are you supposed to understand anything if you don't say it in the first place?

Come on! This was an easy class. If you showed up, listened, and worked, you could do fine. Why don't you check attitudes at the door and allow a prof. to do what he needs to. Jordan is a great guy and prof. and its all based on how you apporach him. Those who had problems -CREATED THEM!

ditto-no mercy or consideration, you have to really work to get on his good side - even if you're not planning on doing anything beyond the core requirement for geography, i recommend putting it as your minor for that semester and letting him know it

its true, he lectures on open mindedness but shoots the other side down, asks for evaluations but then shoots down the comments he gets...its pointless..if your lucky you'll get neufeldt as your lab prof.
