Over-rated. Has read too many of his own press clippings. Big fish in a small pond - graduated a bunch of years ago, went on to 'big league' schools for grad work in the area, and most of the faculty hadn't even heard of him.

Despite many flaws, I still liked the class. Yes, Orr name-drops and preaches and isn't always very accessible, but he is also very knowledge and gives a good lecture. Discussions were pretty terrible, then again, there were 50 people in the class, so it wasn't all his fault.

This policy class was amazing and changed how i think about environmental issues. It taught me to look at issues and projects with the idea of "what can i start" as opposed to "what can i do" with this project.

Orr has made me rethink becoming an ENVS major. Class seemed to be thrown together at the last minute and it was clear that papers were really about rewording HIS views.

sustainable ag: love the readings (Orr is well read and only assigns really good stuff), lectures mostly stats but well organized, 5 page paper/week but no real due dates to get them done-- great topics. I feel like Orr respects me and my ideas. Class discussions can be dominated by few voices. Weird and annoying Amish fetish. 100% US-centric.

Comment:
Terrible. Not helpful. Says the same uninteresting stuff during class each day. Is not at all critical of his own beliefs, they he claims to be willing to be. While interlligent in his own belief, panders terribly to the mindless unintellegent left. In the end nothing he says feels like it is really worthwhile

Orr is very intelligent but he isn't really that good at teaching he is better at preaching. He also is unreachable and seems to just make class up at the last minute.

overrated. preaches far too often rather than providing information in a useful way - fails to move beyond proving how bad american environmental policy actually is.
