Comment:
Dr. Roe is a criminally nice person, but he isn't the best teacher. Do not underestimate his tests, especially the third one. Go in with a working mentality, always be ahead of the game with studying, and make sure you go and see him and you should be fine.

Really nice guy, but actually the worst teacher I've ever had. Was confused for the entirety of the semester.

Although Dr. Roe is a very nice man, I would not recommend him as a professor, especially if you have not had any past experience in economics courses. I found myself very easily confused and frustrated in the learning process. Although he is more than willing to meet with you, I did not find his assistance helpful.

Comment:
Dr. Roe is very intelligent and thoroughly understands the material he teaches. Although he is kind gentleman, he is not the strongest communicator as a teacher. He has trouble explaining concepts in different ways to meet the needs of other students. If you donĂ¢€™t connect well with him quickly, switch professors or find yourself a good tutor.

Great guy, but terrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE FOR STATISTICS! I'm a math person and I've already taken stats at a different college and got an A, but Roe made it so much more confusing than it needed to be. Plus, tests are the only part of your grade, so if you bomb one say goodbye to that A.

I had him for sports econ my first semester of freshmen year and it was awesome. The material is fun, he rarely assigns homework, and his tests are straight out of the book. TAKE THIS CLASS!!

Took him for Law and Econ... literally he made no sense. He would go through a problem and sit there for 45 minutes and tell us we were all wrong when we tried to answer it, and then realize that in the end HE was wrong. Most pointless class ever--but actually really easy. Probably would have a B or B+ easily w/o pass failing it.

Took him for sports econ, the class was really interesting (we basically talked about sports) and it wasn't a difficult class. Summaries on reading book and a midterm and final. If you paid attention and read it was hard to do poorly

I took Roe for Sports Economics and it was one of the easiest classes I've had yet. The tests are based almost entirely on the textbook, and classes were more discussion based. He doesn't care if you miss class, and is always super energetic about the subject. I highly recommend any of his classes.

Dr. Roe is by far the coolest professor at Furman. This was my third class with him and my third positive experience. Law and economics was a fairly interesting class, but it was the first time Roe has taught it so lectures should be smoother in the future.

Loved him! He's a really nice guy and very passionate about economics (he goes off on several tangents). His tests can be tricky but I'd say easy B. You never get homework but I would recommend reading and studying from the book for tests though. Oh and he told us the first day that we can sleep/skip as much a we want.

My second time with Dr. Roe was as enjoyable as the first. Studied the night before tests and came away with a B no problem. Grade is from four evenly weighted tests. Take him for Stats for at all possible.

Pretty cool dude. He's easy to listen to for an hour and is a very approachable guy. He is good at explaining things. He lets you know what to expect, so if you study well, his tests won't catch you up short. This is a good choice for winter term.

I thought the tests were fairly challenging, but not impossible. Stats is just a hard subject. Regardless, you can't help but like this guy. He's incredibly laid-back and nice, and it is pretty funny to watch him when he gets flustered. In general, he's a fair and likeable professor.

Tests were pretty straightforward and easy to do if you are prepared. If he hints at class being short/easy the next day, don't come, you won't do anything. He is very funny and cute, especially if he gets confused.
