Comment:
Dr. Yankow does a great job helping his students understand economics on a deep level. For the intro class, you will build simplified models to help with complex ideas. Very helpful. Lectures are engaging. Highly recommended for Intro to Econ--a class everyone should take before they graduate from Furman.

Read the textbook and do at least some of the optional practice problems and you'll do fine. Weekly quizzes to make sure you're ready for the test. He will walk through any of the problems you are unsure of during office hours. Lectures are straight out of the textbook. Minimal graded homework.

Excellent teacher who really cares. Very difficult grader if you show you don't care but if you work for him he will work with you. Passionate about what he teaches and not your usual academic as he did play professional baseball. At the end of the day your GPA might drop from 4.0, but you will actually learn in his class and its a lot of fun.

This man is the reason I'm now an economics major. He is very personable and easy to talk to, a fair grader, and really all he wants is for you to understand the material. He is a one-of-a-kind professor, and will prepare you for the rest of the econ major.

Though we got behind and didn't finish the last quarter of the material, the class was interesting and certainly worth taking. The tests were fair and not too difficult, especially being provided with a comprehensive study guide. We had few, short writing assignments during the semester and a final research paper at the end. I recommend this class.

Great professor. Extremely knowledgable. You will be tested mostly on his lectures so pay attention. Really good at conveying information. By the time finals came up I felt like I already knew most of the information. Tests are hard but fair. If you really want to learn economics I highly recommend him.

Very knowledgeable and the lectures will keep you interested. Funny guy. The tests are fairly hard and be prepared for pop quizzes but most of them are variations of problems he worked in class on the board. Know all of the info from the powerpoints for the tests and you should do well. I highly recommend this class if you have any interest in econ

He is beautiful but his class is hard. He is more than willing to help though, especially if you show that you really want it. It was stressful to try so hard and not make A's on the tests but you really know the material afterwards. I'd take his class again. & if I haven't mentioned, he is beautiful.

Very good lecturer & good to look at. Tests are pretty hard; mostly focused on application problems graphs. A lot of them are not even discussed in class... outside knowledge/intelligence needed to get them right. Lecture notes and book are not enough for a good grade in his tests. Wouldn't recommend non-econ majors.

Very fair. Tests are challenging, but he is more interested in his students having clear and justifiable thought processes than necessarily arriving at the correct answers.

He was neither the best nor worst teacher at Furman. I had him for my freshman writing seminar and the reading workload was sometimes a little intense, but it wasn't awful. His in-class lectures are completely pointless and have nothing to do with the essays. If you're a good writer and you talk in class, you'll be fine.

I had Dr. Yankow for my freshman writing seminar. Dr. Yankow is an extremely demanding professor, and expects a lot in one's writing. But he is a great professor, overall, and I would highly recommend Dr. Yankow because of it.

One of the best profs at Furman. He made what could've been a painful class enjoyable. He's hilarious a majority of the time, making jokes about econ, himself, and students. It's great. Highly recommend him. And why does this site only allow you to give one chili pepper?
