I would not choose him as a teacher . He will not curve and his test are really hard. You can come to class and show that you are trying and do your homework and he still will not curve for you. Choose someone else . He is nice but he will not help you with your grade

He is able to clearly explain complicated subjects. He seems to always know where the students' understanding is and operates in that space. He is that rare professor who knows exactly what he wants you to get out of the class, puts it on the tests, and spends the entire class putting it in your head. There are no surprises on the tests. Spiceland is a super nice man! Very understanding and actually cares... but his class and lectures are boring, you honestly don't need the book, and the final is crazy hard. I feel like the final contained things we NEVER covered. I suggest taking one of the PhD students... most likely their class is easier. Or just take it online.. NOT IN CLASS!!!

I took Dr. Spiceland for ACCT 7120-Strategic Accounting. Very easy class if you have taken and passed ACCT 3120. There were a total of two exams, one presentation, and homework assignments worth 150 points. My advice would be to try and show up to every class, since Dr. Spiceland randomly takes up the homework assignment.

Awesome teacher. Uses slides, but goes into great detail to explain the logic. Will bend over backwards to helps student, clearly a guy who lives for teaching. His tests are 4-5 problems (he will tell you what they are as he says "The material is hard enough without me trying to trick you") and 10-25 MC. Prob my favorite Acct'g teacher yet.

I way prefer Minmier. Spiceland has the craziest multiple choice questions. If you do the practice exams and stuff, you'll be okay on the problems, but when it comes to the multiple choice you'll have to memorize the book!

I chose to take him because I figured since he wrote the book, I would understand him more than Minmier. I loved the available online resources. They are the only way I succeed in this course.USE THESE RESOURCES, ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, DO THE HOMEWORK ON YOUR OWN 1ST THEN CHECK TO SEE THE CORRECT WAY TO SOLVE.

Homework assignments are added together at the end of the semester to equal an exam grade. Doing your homework will help your average significantly. He provides practice exams and chapter quizzes online that help with reviewing the material for exams. He states very clearly what will be covered and sticks to it. I gladly recommend this professor.

Basically an online course except for exams. He's rarely in class. Pleasant man. Easy to approach, if you can catch him. Do all the homework to earn his favor. Set clear expectations, but provided almost no coaching on term project. Exams are straight forward if you've done the homework. Very fair grader.

Do the homework, and by that I mean dont copy it 10 minutes before class, and you should be fine. The difference between getting an A or a C is if you have been doing the homework all along. The class is no harder that Acct 3110.
