I had Mr. Swim for my 163 class. On the first day of class he immediately cancelled one of the papers that he said was due. Each day he spent most of the class just talking about random stuff. He only cares to teach you about Cal Pers and Pensions. Don't buy the book, you won't need it. He ended up cancelling the WACO paper for our class as well.

Comment:

Took Dave's course over 20 years ago right after I became a cop. His insights and stories were so applicable to doing police work and how you will be treated by police administration. Also a caring and compassionate guy whose class I still think about today as I near retirement.

Does not teach much he takes attendance everyday, don't buy the book you don't need it! midterm, paper, final both tests are given in advance to study, paper is a bit confusing but he doesn't seek to fail anyone overall no one should be receiving lower than a B.

David Swim is awesome. There isn't one day where he doesn't make the class laugh. Super easy class, consists of a midterm, final, and paper. Midterm and final he gives you the questions ahead of time and may only ask you to answer some, multiple choice and true or false questions, all can be found online if you search some of the questions.

More of a motivational speaker than a professor. Still a really great professor though. Has interesting stories to tell. We never do anything in class. We have gotten dismissed 20-30minutes early multiple times. One 5 page paper, midterm and final. Exams are take home. No one should be getting anything below a B. Would definitely take again.

He is one one my favorite. He has much experience and a role model in Criminal Justice. He makes a class easy to understand and fun for you. If you study and do assignments, you will have enough good grade. Some teachers do not value the results after lots of work, but he is not. He values. He is very open-minded and talks his experience of work.

He's a funny professor and it is a fun class to go to. He doesn't lecture much, always on a tangent when he does. However, his class is very easy and fun! Attendance is key for this class. He doesn't miss a day. The only downside is that you get lost on what to do in the class, as he's not on SacCt and not really in par with his syllabus.

Favorite professor by far! Super easy class and so inspiring! I was in his 163 class too. Weird to say but I feel like his lectures made me a better person. He is super pro-student and makes sure we all do well. I would recommend for anyone that needs to take electives! Awesome teacher!! I wish I could take him for more classes!

Dr. Swim was an amazing professor!! By far my favorite teacher at Sac State. He makes nothing harder than it needs to be, and is very clear in his lectures. He makes coming to class so exciting! He has a ton of professional experience in many divisions of CJ and is extremely knowledgable. He cares so much about his students & it's an easy class :)

Professor Swim was awesome! He always had good stories to tell about his days on the beat and they always related to his lectures. He was usually willing to help too if you had questions. He's easy on the eyes too. That didn't hurt. (Silver fox) All in all, great teacher.

I took Leadership & Critical Issues with Professor Swim in Spring 2014. BEST teacher i have ever had! Graded work primarily consist of mid-term, final, a paper, and attendance. Do not need a book if you really pay attention to lectures. Very enthusiastic about his lectures. Engaging. Easy to approach. Does not make class harder than it has to be.

He looks like The Most Intresting Man In The World. He doesn't always take attendence, but when he does, you better be there. He doesn't always grade tough, but when he does he gives "B"s. He doesn't always yell and rant, but when he does, he goes off on a huge angry tangent. He doesn't always talk about his life experiences, oh wait yes he does.
