Dr. Twetten is great. He really knows his stuff and is good about making sure everyone in the class understands what they're doing. He is great at explaining all of the topics and is really understanding. One test all semester and only one big essay. He gives you a study guide for the midterm and final. Highly recommend!

He was extremely disrespectful to students and while I received a good grade in the course, many did not. There are much better, easier, kinder professors.

Though a bit all over the place, Twetten is incredibly helpful and a fair prof. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! He will do everything he can to help you get a good grade (including retaking quizzes/exams). As long as he sees you putting in effort/participating, he will be your best friend. Not an "easy A" but as long as you put in the time you'll get an A

Dr. Twetten was a little confusing, but overall a good professor. He definitely wants students to succeed and makes himself very accessible outside of class. Would take more classes with him in the future for sure!

Most confusing teacher I've ever had. His lectures consist of him rambling on about a concept he's not explaining while all the students sit there in silence, regretting their decision to take his class.

Even though he can be a bit weird he is really harmless. He is an old dude, and a little stuck in the past, but his lectures are full of content and interesting. Before the final, he gave us the questions for the test, as well as a comprehensive study guide and a full PDF of all his handouts (I wish more profs did this). He wants you to succeed.

Dr. Twetten is a fantastic philosophy professor. Considering I had never taken a philosophy course in the past, I had my suspicions. I thought all of these abstract concepts would be discussed, but it really is just common sense. Overall, it is a great introductory course that can get you on the right path in your philosophy courses.

Dr. Twetten. What a guy. Some people see him as a little crazy, but he just likes discussing philosophy in some interesting ways. Anyway, he gives plenty of examples and explains philosophical ideas giving a lot of effort. He's pretty hilarious, but in depth. He always wants participation. If you sit in the back row get ready to speak. Mm yeah baby

Twetten is a good and motivated teacher who cares about what he preaches but he can become very confusing and sometimes does not finish his thoughts and does not give very clear answers to questions. Tests can get pretty rough but he gives a study guide for each test a few weeks in advance which do help if you take the time to study.

If you enjoy philosophy, then Dr. Twetten is probably a solid choice. He is very confusing during class, but helps a lot during office hours. He puts in the time to know his students which is nice. He can be quite eccentric (especially in the morning). The only homework is the readings which tend not to be too long.

How he presents the content is very confusing. Only a midterm and a final with in between reading quizzes on readings that will not help in understanding. Take another professor if possible, otherwise reread his notes every day so that the final is not super hard even though it is awful.

He's passionate about Philosophy but that's about all the good about him. His notes are the most disorganized notes I have ever received from a professor. Goes on tangents during class and does not have a structure while teaching. I would not recommend taking him.

A very enthusiastic, passionate, and quirky professor. However, the rest is downhill from there. His notes were extremely disorganized and hard to follow. He emailed review notes for the midterm and final which was nice (Much MUCH easier to follow than class notes). he rarely answered questions that were asked. Went on tangents all the time.

This class was the most confusing class I have taken. There was little to no structure. I went to every class and the in class notes the most unorganized notes I have ever seen. Never gives definitive answers to questions. Take another professors class.

Incredibly confusing. Dr. Twetten certainly means well but made this topic far more difficult than it ever needed to be. His lectures had little/no structure and he rarely ever gave straight answers to any questions. Would NOT recommend.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a Philosophy professor more engaging and entertaining than Dr. Twetten. He's quirky for sure and it's not always easy to take clear notes in the lectures, but the real learning is happening during in-class discussion. He highly encourages questions and truly loves participation from anyone and everyone.

Twetten is your classic eccentric philosophy professor. At times he can be a little difficult to understand but he is great at helping students. Class discussions were always worth while and you could get by without doing all of the reading though it definitely helped. He's a funny professor and is great at explaining things when you ask questions.

He was one of the worst professors I've had at Marquette. Our nickname for him was "Tweeter" because he was all over the place all class and would jump between topics and was very confusing. His tests were organized to purposely confuse you and overall the class was very difficult. I do not recommend him.

Twetten makes philosophy ridiculously difficult. Lectures have no organization and he can't answer questions directly or clearly. In fact, his advice to me was "stop taking notes." Call me crazy, but that doesn't make any sense! He expects students to get material he's been studying for 30 years in 1 day. Most frustrating professor I've had here.
