Independent learning. You have access to all class materials. Weekly assignments and discussion forum posts were easy to complete. 2 midterms and a final. I really enjoyed this class. Definitely would take another one of her classes.

The class consisted of weekly definition and forum posts. If you follow the requirements in the syllabus you will receive 100%. Midterm exams were all multiple choice and were quite difficult - make sure you remember all the facts. Very easy to get ahold of.

I found this class to be a lot of reading. Ensure that you get the right textbook, and read it! Her quizzes sometimes ask very specific questions about what was said in certain chapters. Nice thing was she broke it up so we had three quizzes rather than one big final.

Online Class. Read a chapter maybe two a week - interesting. Post to forum twice a week. Submit 3 definitions a week. Midterms are easy. Very easy and interesting class if you read the material and participate. A little busy, not hard at all!

This professor is fine during her lectures, although she talks to quickly to be effective at times. Outside of class, she is quick to anger, judgmental, and extremely inflexible. If you ask her about your assignment grades, she pretty much decides she doesn't like you .My advice is to skip her class if at all possible, you deserve better.

Great professor. Keeps course content very interesting. Midterms were difficult, but assignments were straight forward. She is a wonderful professor who is quick to answer questions and is readily available when needed. Thoroughly enjoyed this course. She kept class participation very high with her teaching approach.

I have taken Soc 215 and 315 with Dawn, both on-line. Her expectations about all assignments and essays were always very clear. The exams cover a lot of material - including theories - so you need to study hard for them. She is very fair and gives you choices to research and write about areas that are of the most interest to you. Great classes!

I found the work load to be the hardest I've faced yet in the 100 and 200 levels. The final was worth 40% which is way too much in my opinion, especially considering the amount of work required in the course. This was by far the most stressful final I've had yet. Will avoid her classes in the future.

Leona's class is extremely interesting if you appreciate criminal justice. She has one paper assignment, three quizzes and blog participation. It is absolutely manageable. If you do what is expected of you (minimally!) you will do well.

As an online instructor, her instructions are extremely vague and her lecture material is scarce. She assigns a ridiculous amount of readings and expects students to be experts on the course material by the time an exam date approaches. I could have learned just as much, if not more, by simply buying the textbook and teaching myself.

Super friendly and helpful. Uses lots of interestng videos (Pay attention) However she expects you to do waaaaay too much reading. she assigns three chapters a week and tests on the chapters and wants specific examples from the readings. If you are not a reader do not take this class with Dawn you will fail the exams

I still have the final exam to write. But I can honestly say this is the best SOC class I took at the U of R. Yes, you do have to do the readings, her exams are short, long answer and for final is the same except with an essay too. Wrongful conviction was the best topic and based of her book. Such a good class. Take it :)

This was an webclass where her expectations were relatively vague. The deal breaker was the last assignment where all research materials were to be included wtih the essay. I would say this requirement was gratuitous and cumbersome! The document came out seventy pages long!
