Comment:

This was one of the worst classes I have taken at CMU. Dr. Chakraborty does not help you learn this material whatsoever. You are on your own. NO helpful feedback, and he clearly does not want to give out A's. Worked my butt off for nothing. Material is incredibly outdated (90's). What a joke. Also, so few points in the class. No room for mistakes!

Mostly talks about recent news or books he has read. Would be a good professor if he showed any interest in updating his economics knowledge since 1990-s and appreciated students more.

Really cool guy. Gives tons of examples. Has an accent but you can still understand him. He will let you use EVERYTHING on the tests (including your laptop/smartphone). HW was online and tedious but tolerable. Best stats professor I've ever had. Go to class and take good notes and you'll get an A.

Deb is cool guy and cares about his students..but he is not a good teacher..teaches right out of the book in front of class,and goes WAY TO FAST with the material. Don't buy the book because he gives every example out of it..Overall..I wouldn't take him again

One of the best professors I've had at central. The guy knows what he's talking about and actually cares about the students. Go to class, take notes and you will pass with an A. He told us not to bother buying the book so just wait before you buy it. Awesome Guy!

Nice guy with a cool personality but that's about it. His notes are easy to understand but when it comes to the tests, it's like you studied the wrong material. Doesn't use blackboard and doesn't respond to emails.

He allows you to use 2 cheet sheets for the exams, but dont get too excited, you need them. Tests are pretty difficult because some of the questions are tricky and unexpected. Hw is credit/no credit which is nice, just complete the assignments. Dont buy the book, if you put some effort into the class you may get a B

DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! He will tell you to buy this massive $135 dollar book and you will not touch it the whole time. I'm pissed he made me buy it. Tests straight from in class notes and worksheets. Overall pretty ok class, not as easy as I had been told by others.

Hard to unerstand at times, and most of the time you can not read his writing on the board. Gives you study guides for your exams, but exams are nothing like the study guides. Extra Credit given, but you have to do all the extra credit assignments to get the extra credit. Do not take him! HARD!

I took this class on Saturdays, so spending eight hours on Quantitative Analysis was less than exciting, but we never stayed the whole time. We had two tests (1 in class, 1 take home), and homework was credit/no credit-as long as you did it you received credit. Plus, he always gave the answers to the homework beore it was due. Just show your work

He's hard, but he gives you so much extra credit(when you go to class 95% of the time). But he's a very nice guy, and is willing to help those that come to class a passing grade. You should still buy the book, just in case his notes aren't clearenough... But I would take him again.

BUY THE BOOK! His exams are not from the lecture they are all from the book. He has no clue of whats going on. When he gives back the exams over half the class fails and he bumps up the grades. He has no sense of logic. "I do not know why everyone does so bad" He is a horrible teacher.
