Comment:

After absolutely loving Kleiner, I was disappointed by Professor Kahn. Well she seems like a very sweet woman her lectures are extremely dull. She clicks through slides to fast for you to write anything down, speaks to quietly, and hardly ever updates the website as much as Kleiner did. Class attendance nearly halved during her portion class

Comment:

Deborah is absolutely the best personality I've come across at BU. She is kind, intelligent and her sense of humor is wonderful. She always managed to make me laugh every class. Readings are helpful but Deborah goes over everything you'll need to know. She is passionate about her field and makes the content very interesting, TAKE THIS CLASS!

She is the kindest professor you will ever encounter. Don't be an idiot student- show up to class, stay awake, and go to office hours. You get what you put in- she makes sure of that. She is funny and tries to really get you to understand the material and the motivations behind the arts' creation. Don't criticize her just because you are lazy.

I really don't enjoy the lectures (dull), but she really knows her stuff. She is super helpful if you ask questions, but I feel she can be too passionate at times and get a little carried away. I am not a fan of the writing your "feelings" either, but I see where she is going with it.

She's a nice lady, but honestly very difficult to listen to, her lectures are so boring. The class goes from interesting and informative to insufferable. Attendance rate definitely goes down in the second half of this class!

Professor Kahn is one of the best professors I have had at BU! Her enthusiasm is infectious, she is interesting, incredibly helpful, and cares about you as an individual and how you do in the class. I would highly recommend any class she teaches.

Although I preferred Prof. Kleiner (teaches 1st half of semester), Kahn is very good. Very passionate/knowledgeable about medieval art. PowerPoints/handouts are helpful, and she tells you everything you need to study for the exam (she bolds important topics). Highly recommend taking this class.

Our class was about 15 people, and she always catered to us individually. She is very flexible with deadlines, so if you have any issues or problems, please don't hesitate to talk to her! I don't know how anyone could say anything bad about her. She is so enthusiastic and kind-- definitely go to her office hours. The paper assignments were not that bad and she doesn't grade too harshly. Easy A if you like medieval art. LOVE this lady.

I loved this class, and I think Prof Kahn's enthusiasm for her subject shows through and makes people more interested. She is quite helpful, and is ready to answer any questions you might have. The class is not difficult and I left it with a much greater understanding and appreciation of Medieval art.

I agree with the previous user from the AH 240 class. Complete BS class. She was unprepared, made inappropriate remarks sometimes, and graded unfairly. Yeah, the "feeling" papers were the worst part of the class. The final sucked as well. Do not take this course!

Sometimes she's unprepared for the class (does not have slides posted online or doesn't give out a handout). There's two things I really dislike about her. First, she expects way too much out of 200 level course! An extensive research paper at the end of the course, plus a****final! Second, she had us write an "I feel" paper..Not academic style!

she is very knowledgeable about medieval art, but is quite boring. she also has a really weird accent and is very softspoken. likes to keep the room dark, making it hard to stay awake. but papers are easy and she outlines everything you need to know for test.

Although a bit dull as a lecturer, Professor Kahn is a caring individual who knows her subject well. She is very soft spoken, but if you can manage to actually hear her you can learn a lot. I had to take AH111 and 112 for my major (graphic design), but I did enjoy learning about Medieval art.

Professor Kahn is very knowledgable about art history, and it shows in her lectures. However, she isn't the most riveting speaker, and never makes jokes. Be sure to sit toward the front, as it is sometimes hard to hear her.

Not as interesting lectures...but the class is not difficult. She outlines whatever will be on the exams in details and the expectations for papers are not at all high. Professor Kahn is an awesome person and a knowledgeable professor.
