Comment:
Grading scale is unclear, materials contradict themselves but you'll be able to figure out the right way to do things. She gives pre lab overviews and mentions important things then so make sure you can hear and see her. She's nice if you're nice to her. The class is challenging and stressful, but not al that bad.

Comment:
Before each lab you must read the overview in the manual, the section in the textbook, part of another book, and watch a pre-lab video. However they all tell you different things and don't make it clear what steps/ amounts are used in the actual lab. You aren't allowed to use any of those materials during the class and you have to write the steps.

HUGE CURVE! Don't drop the class if your "failing." Everyone is failing. The curve is huge. Got average scores (30-50%) on everything and ended with a B in the class. Didn't really have to study or care because the curve is so huge. Theres no homework in the class either, so go to lecture and/or SI!

Dr. Lieberman will teach you useful information and to not be an idiot in the lab. She will also scream into the microphone while you are doing your experiment which is frustrating. She seems to treat her TA's poorly which turns into them hashing out on the undergrads. Can be a hostile environment!

Comment:
Professor likes to yell at and belittle students. She requires reading the manual, textbook, and watching video. The three often contradict, causing confusion. Curves a lot - 85%, perhaps lower, was an A. TA's are told to grade harshly, but the curve makes up for this. Stressful experience, but grade will survive.

Comment:
The worst class I have ever taken in my life. I have never seen any professor act so disrespectfully. Each lab required a manual, a textbook, and her pre-recorded videos to complete, all of which were contradictory. Asking a question usually resulted in ridicule. Expects perfection with terrible equipment in an impossible amount of time. Nightmare

If youre taking O Chem you will have to face Dr Lieberman. She is the only O Chem Lab professor. This class is pretty hard mostly from the mass confusion she creates with prelab. All the lab sources contradict each other and if youre still confused youre out of luck! She is rude and only likes you if youre in her lecture. Just try to pass with a C

Comment:
Has unreasonable expectations. You put in AT LEAST 3 hours of outside work/week for 1 credit hour. Have to read/watch 3 different sources, half the time contradicting each other, to write the protocol. Not happy to answer questions. Lets the TAs grade extremely unfairly if they want to. Too bad you cannot avoid taking her for lab.

You have to prepare before you go to class. Finish lab early, otherwise points taken off. After that, lab report takes long time to finish, which TAs will grade them. No matter what, this is a difficult class. Takes up time.

Dr. Liebermann is a good person, but the class is awful. The material you have to wade through often contradict but you are expected to be perfect anyway. Way too much work for 1 credit hr. TAs are really harsh graders and not knowledgeable. If you don't have her for lecture material doesn't match up. Won't fail you thought. Min. you get C-

Comment:
Dr. Lieberman is not very helpful and has us watch videos of the lab which contradict the lab manual, which both contradict the lab book, which all contradict what she says during the lab period. If you ask her a question, she will insult you and maybe answer the question. She is very rude and unfortunately cannot be avoided if pursuing chemistry.

O-Chem is hard no matter what. Went to every SI, studied before exams, never read textbook (would not recommend that, I'm just special), and came out with an 83% giving me an A. I know a 55% was a B-. Read before class, attend two SI sessions per week, and go to lecture. Do this and you should get a B or higher easily.

She is very unreasonable. She expects perfect accuracy with faulty equipment. She will have you write lab reports but give 4 different sets of instructions that are each different. For a 1 credit hour class you will put in about 5 hours of work a week. She is hardly ever in lab. Avoid asking questions, she will not answer them and then yell at you.

She is the only professor that teaches Organic Chem labs. For 1 credit hour, she makes you do the work that takes at least 4 hr before coming to the lab. She makes you watch a 1 hr low quality video of herself talking in a lecture about 2 decades ago. You need to read 3 lab manuals and write the procedure by yourself and take a quiz before lab.

Many students say that they are afraid to approach her but if you ask questions you will get help. She recommends doing all the problems in the book and you should, she takes exam questions straight from the book. She came in early every Monday to review for our ACS exam and that helped. She tends to be all over in lecture so read the book.

Dr. Lieberma is a reasonable O-chem professor. The class is hard...no matter what professor you take. Compared to the other 2 professors I have taken it with, she is the best. She gives a fair curve and also gives a lot of partial credit on exams. She understands that the material is difficult and does not expect everyone to get 100's on exams.

You really don't see much of her but her lab class is pretty straightforward. Curve is fair. Still bitter about not getting invited to honors lab, but I'll get over it.

She is a nice person sometimes, but a horrible professor. She really knows her stuff, but she knows it so well that she is incapable of teaching it to beginners. It's almost like she has expected you to have taken from organic course prior to hers. Doesn't use the book.
