Comment:

Dr. Welch is so funny and cares about her students. She breaks down the material to help everyone understand her. She talks the entire class but taking notes is easy in the class. If you have any trouble don't hesitate to talk to her. I would recommend her to anyone if you need the class and want a good grade. All you have to do is participate!

Welch tries to be funny but can come across rude. only 5 assignments for the semester, take home tests. doesn't use canvas except to put announcements up. three weeks till the end of the semester and i still dont know my grade in her class. i hope i never have a class with her again. she knows her facts but cant teach it so that you learn the info

She is extremely opinionated, especially about her hatered for president-elect Donald Trump and her love for socialism. Everything she teaches has a slant to it. Her lectures are not focused, and she skips over huge chunks of history to get to the things she wants to talk about, often skipping entire chaps of the book. Teaches nothing &grades hard.

She speaks softly so try to sit towards te front. her lectures are kinda boring but she understands that most students dont want to be there. she lets class out early frequently. i would HIGHLY recomend visiting her in her office if you have questions about anything, she wants to see that you care about your grade. and READ the book!!

She's great she's so nice and she's understands that no one wants to be there at 8 in the morning but even though I did have her class at 8 in the morning 3 days a week I looked forward to her class. My favorite Welch quote is "because what does a buffalo have to be afraid of? A prairie dog with ambition?"

She definately has her favorite students and makes it obvious in her grading. She dotes on them. Her lectures are difficult to follow sometimes, and reading the book is crucial. She is entertaining with her side-stories but very biased towards her students. I disliked her grading technique. She makes me vomit.

Very nice lady. Soft spoken, and funny. Does not use powerpoints, you have to write down everything she says. But I love her class! She is an amazing teacher!!!

Although she is knowledgable about history, she is a terrible professor. Very opinionated. Harsh grader. All she cares about is if she is right. She is one of those professors that if you don't say exactly what she wants you to say... she will fail you. I do not suggest taking her.

Shes nuts. I hoped that the good comments were true. They are not. I have an open mind, she does not. She lies and has her own version. Believes everythings horrible. She is a heretic. She has favorites. Others she will attack and humiliate. attacks students publicly. One student, same paper can get an A, another a B, based on if she likes them.

don't take her! i am a history major and i thought 222 would be a breeze but i was wrong. absolutely do not disagree with anything she says...she failed me on a paper because she didn't agree with my opinion. only cares for herself and only focuses on native americans...doesn't teach the rest of american history.

I had her for American Colonial History. I looked forward to the class but was highly disappointed. She is very full of herself and mentions she is a card carrying Cherokee (which anyone can be) and how she speaks Navajo often. One of her quotes was, "In the Am. Rev. War, anything of importance only happened in the northern colonies". Haha!

She must have been on good drugs this semester...b/c I thought she was GREAT. I was never bored in her lecture...but sometimes she does go off on weird tangents. The work is not hard at all for those of you who belong in college...SO SWEET! I loved her! If you are interested in Indian history...this is the professor for you.

Comment:

Interesting teacher, focuses on Indian History a lot. Do the assignments and show up to class, and she will like you. Loves when you answer questions in class. Some assignments can be unclear, but talk to her outside of class and she will explain it. There is a big group project, ususally Indian-related. Do a good job and you'll do fine.
