While I've had Debra in the past and not been happy, I found her Contemporary Sociology class to be really interesting and well laid-out, despite some setbacks around the syllabus at the beginning of the course. She marked fairly and allowed dissenting opinions to be voiced in class without shooting them down herself!

Dragon Lady. Was very strongly opinionated and refused to listen to others'point of views. Had a mark for in class discussions and didn't even know our names. Assigned marks at random. Nice enough if you're on her good side.

Clarke is very unprofessional and rude. She does not allow for a good learning environment because she attacks students who mention an opinion that is not hers. Clarke really is a disgrace to teachers because she offers no feed back or help with assignments. I encourge others to formally complain to the sociology departmant head like I am.

Steer as clear as physically possible away from this woman. She is potentially THE most stubborn prof known to university. It feels as though she randomly assigns marks to her students without evaluating their knowledge of the class. Have had an absolutely terrible experience with her.

glad to see i'm the not the only one that experienced the wrath of clarke. proceed with caution... if your not a sociology major or agree with her, run for you life. she's excellent at twisting words and accusing you of saying things you didn't say. in the evening she spends her time with her cat, and brushes up on her fire breathing abilities.

She jumps all over terms in lecture, not really clarifying things for the students when we state that we don't understand. In seminar she snaps at students so she can get her point across when she asks us to present on the articles. If she wants to run a third year seminar where open dialogue available she needs to allow for that. DISLIKE HER!

she is a nightmare. Its her opinion that counts and she does not accept critical thought even though thats what she asks for. She picks on girls and loves boys. If she doesn't like you get out of the class because she will fail you even if you do the work and put the effort into the course. STAY AWAY FROM CLARKE!!!!!

Enjoyable course, definitely interesting however, watch out for the exams, they are tricky. As long as you are on her good side, you will enjoy her but I have seen some nasty confrontations but they have not been completely her fault. Do what she asks you to and you will be fine!
