Prof Gillman was nice & loves what she does. This class is good for freshmen to understand what college is like but if you are a senior just looking for credits, dont take her unless you like & have the time to read 8+ long plays. Thea230 with Insley is better (and more fun) if looking for credits. Nothing against Gillman, just a post for seniors!

Professor Gillman is incredible. As a non-theater major, this class is perfect for a liberal learning requirement. Yes, the plays are outdated but she makes it so much fun and interesting. Almost think of it as a literature class- you just read and watch plays and then talk about them. Midterm, final, and projects are all easy as long as you care.

Holy guacamole, get ready to read and write. You'll have an essay (or two!) due every week. It's a very interesting course, but incredibly writing intensive. The benefit is that you have a lot of grades, but she'll make you work for an A.

Professor Gillman is a wonderful woman. As a professor, she makes things interesting and engaging. A lot of people use her class just for the A of I but I think it's genuinely interesting (and moderately scandalous) because the readings are really good. She has mandatory attendance to Theatre CNU productions, which she shamelessly pitches in class.

As a person, she is a walking angel. One of the sweetest, talented, and most intelligent woman I have ever met. As a teacher I would recommend her greatly. She enjoys what she does to an exceeding level and she really does care about everyone in TheaterCNU !

Took gillman for this class in spring 2010. she was really a great prof. i mean, some of these plays were super boring but i still payed attention. she's not super easy on grading but she is fair. i walked away with a solid B+. if you can take her i would encourage it

She is a wonderful teacher. Her classes are challenging, but if you really love acting you will benefit so much and grow immensely in your craft. You have to work hard, but it is so worth it because she is a very insightful individual. She is always open to help you out with anything. Do it!

Very very easy class and the plays on the scientists, I thought, were pretty interesting and not hard to read at all, very short. The powerpoint was somewhat ridiculous, but the class was an easy A so long as you read the plays.

Even though I had no prior interest in classical theatre, Denise's class made me LOVE IT! However, her stammering drove me crazy! Overall though, I thought she was a fair grader and made the class interesting through movie screenings, small, creative group projects, and scene readings.

WONDERFUL. She's either 'your type' or she's not. Essays on tests leave you a little in the dark, but the group presentations are easy. Study the stupid little details for the weekly quizzes for easy points.

DO NOT TAKE ANY ARTS ADMIN CLASS FROM GILLMAN!!! She is a witch and makes up crap as she goes. As she was driving her car to class she decided to give us a four page essay single spaced due the day of our final exam when she knew we all had to present our major projects in class that day.

Denise does not have a well developed program for the Arts Admin class. Often is seemed she was making it up as she went along. I have been told that in other classes she is wonderful, but do not take her Arts Admin class!

I really enjoyed this class, Gillman is a great speaker and will keep you entertained. The quizes suck sometimes, you just have to pay attention to what you're reading. Same thing for the tests, you really have to know the material. There's quite a bit of reading but it's all good. overall easy

She's a lil too hard for an intro class and she goes REALLY fast and you take tons of notes. The tests are way difficult.
