BEST PROF EVER!!! very clear grading criteria which is just based on how many good points you have. There are only 2 exams and a paper to do for this class but I found it fairly simple! she is very helpful outside of class and is open to hearing opinions I would love to take another class with her!!

This instructor is awesome! She is unbiassed with an eclectic mindset which makes this course on Global Art History fabulous. Regardless of whether you are chatty or shy, she will try to encourage and help you as much as possible, so success in this course really depends on you. Overall, Denise deserves an "excellence in teaching" award!

This course covered Art History from Prehistory to the Renaissance periods. The instructor is very knowledgeable and the lectures were clear, so the course was absolutely great! If you skip classes and don't do your readings it makes sense that you will do poorly. If you do your work you will more than likely excel!

Of all the professors who have taught me over over the years, I can honestly say Denise Panchysyn is easily one of the best teachers I have ever had! She makes Art History absolutely fascinating. You wil learn a lot if you pay attention in class. She is helpful, respectful and easy to talk to. Overall an EXCELLENT TEACHER with loads of experience.

Denise is a great speaker. She shows passion about the work and is open to new ideas that come from students. I saw some comments about her being surly. Never experienced that. Saw her react appropriately to disrespectful behavior from a student once. Be authentic and creative and show up to class and you will do well.

Denise is so passionate about Art and it shows. Although I wasn't always dazzled by the coursework, it's so nice to have a teacher who obviously cares about the subject and the material. Midterm was required to memorize info about 16 works of art then tested on 7. You get to plan the final beforehand and take in a cheat sheet. Text is good to have

Not that bad but kind of all over the place. Another reviewer mentioned problems for DS students. I did have a problem with test materials in spring of 2013. cant say if it's still the same. Guess I should have said something when I noticed.

I was unsure when it came to taking MA as it was the very first AH class I took. That said, I found Denise to be engaging and helpful, she made me enjoy the class. Her notes are clear; her mt are slides were you have to write info about the piece. For her papers, use the text! My regret was not taking the 2nd part of MA in the summer with her!

I've taken a few classes with Denise and LOVED them - I'm frankly amazed by the negative comments about her exams - she is by far the clearest in her expectations, with manageable slide lists of only 40 items for the whole course (other profs have 80+ just for midterm, then again on final). Helpful and approachable, I highly recommend her classes!

Lectures are mostly great but test expectations can be somewhat unclear. She can also be a little unpredictable, it's important to make sure you don't ask her a question on the wrong day or you may get her surly side. Content is legitimately interesting and I find myself taking about 3x the notes I do for other classes.

Easy marker as long as you can BS your way through with big words and remember the works. Seemed rather flaky and inserted opinions that were fairly ill informed and out of context. I wouldn't really recommend.

Denise's class was a pleasure to take part in. Her enthusiasm for the subject matter really shines through and she is respectful and appreciative of contributions from her students. Denise was a wonder; helpful in elucidating the art history movements from 1900 to the present. she was engaging and proactive about getting discussions going throughout the class. i would definetely take recommend taking her class.
