I would definitely recommend for Eng 250! The class meets every 2 weeks, you answer six short discussion boards online, and you write about 5 or six papers total. Not all of these are full essay papers there will be some where you are just analyzing an article, or simply answering questions. Grammar will be graded, but not awful. Great teacher!

Professor Ruzicka was a great professor. As long as you understand what is required in each of his assignments, it's an easy A. In total, we wrote 6 essays. Each week he allowed us to turn in our rough draft for spelling and grammatical errors. This was great as it allowed me to turn in a decent paper each week. I never got below a 90%.

He is a great teacher, and his written textbook is very helpful when writing papers. I went to his office hours for almost every paper, and he was helpful in answering my questions. Beware of grammar and punctuation errors. They cost you 2-3% each. Definitely take these papers to the Writing Center. I hope to take him again for my ENGL321 class.

Dr. Ruzicka is a HARD grader. I took all my papers to the writing center and never got higher than a 90%. He would mark me down on things that were a personal preference, not necessarily wrong. This wouldn't be a big deal but the class was only out of 295 points. I never met him in person but he came off rude and condescending in emails.

Horrible instructor, may even say the worst professor I've had thus far (almost graduated). Any and every time I asked for help I was treated like I was incompetent. VERY rude and unprofessional with responses, when he decided to respond. Expects every student to be at the same writing level as himself. DO NOT TAKE HIM, YOU WILL REGRET IT

Dennis Ruzicka is not an easy A. However, if you want to learn how to genuinely write a good paper, he's the man. He is very specific on what he wants from you on your papers. Have a good relationship with the writing center for help. I retook him for a different class because I enjoyed how much I learned from him.

Don't take his class if you don't like to argue. His whole class revolves around arguing. He's nice, but he's pretty boring. We had papers due every single week.

This class was a complete waste of my time. The class average was below a C, small grammatical errors will doctor your grade by an entire letter grade. I had the best grade in the class and had a difficult time managing an A-. His assignments may seem clear at first, but when you receive your grade you will find he expected something else entirely.

He gave great feedback on errors and gave ample time to redo an assignment prior to handing it in for a grade. If you plan on extending your education beyond a bachelors degree I would highly recommend him, as he will return phone calls and challenges you to grow as a writer. He provides a digital textbook for free.

His assignments were clear, 1,000-2,000 word essays. You pick a topic to write about the whole semester and they were always due Wednesday mornings. He was really tough on grammar and punctuation errors, which I went to the writing center & got help with. He's nice and tries to help when he can.

Personally, not a bad guy. But seriously he is such a hard grader. He is nice until it comes to handing homework in late for any reason. I will never take another online class because of him. His teaching is very his own he changed the class from Advanced Composition to Professional Writing. I'm in week 13 writing about the same thing!

He is a tough teacher but makes his assignments very clear. All the major assignments required a rough draft to be turned in a week prior to the final draft. He would give you suggestions and areas to work on before you turned it in. Very critical on grammar and comma usage. Really nice guy though.

i have learned nothing this semester from this teacher. when you write a paper he just expects you have the english background he does. i have never had an english teacher who graded so tough. if you are good at english you may be able to get a good grade in this class but chances are you will have to teach yourself so good luck!

he is annoying. 100% of the course material is on the website, and whatever is talked about in class will be on there as well.however for somereason class is mandatory. and if you do miss more then one day he takes 10 points off your final grade. i could understand if he helped you find a few of the errors in your paper but he just rambles

I wish I would have read some of these reveiws before taking the class. I'll start with the positive, he returned all of our work very quickly. The BIG negative which is hard to explain but luckly some earlier reviews have done so ... Regarding his point system, it is TRUE you'll have papers that are worth 50 points, yet a perfect score is 48 ?!?!?

Please explain to me, Professor Ruzicka, why would you make assignments worth 50 points, when the max score offered is a 48? IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!! Seriously, I got a "perfect", or darn close, score on most assignments, and still missed an A. Nothing personal against the guy, it's just a bit ridiculous.

Useless class and teacher. Didn't try to teach us anything new just wrote pointless papers and reading summaries. I wouldn't take his class. Its not that hard but its a huge waste of time and money.
