Comment:
Derek is very kind and easy to get along with, but his lecture style is pretty dull. The majority of the lecture time was spent on group projects. We only covered three topics (about 1-2 weeks material in other courses) during the semester and 95% of that content is review from pre-reqs. I didn't learn a lot from this course.

Took Advanced Computer Mapping in 2009. One of the best profs. Very helpful. Real-world projects. Learned new technology.

Okay, yeah his classes are boring, his slides are all over the place and you do not need to buy the textbook, but his tests are REALLY easy. His questions are very general and come from the lecture slides, which he posts to Moodle. I'd suggest him if you're looking for an easy GLER or a GPA booster, but not if you're a geography major.

I was really excited to take this class and then after a few weeks i dreaded going. His slides were all over the place and hard to follow. I would study for his test and think i would do well then he would put trick questions on it. Lots of the class time was devoted to projects and I learned very little from this class .Boring.

If you are looking for a GPA booster and you really like Puns, this is your prof. His tests are super easy, and he is willing to adjust marks if you talk with him. He's quick to respond to emails, and posts all course material on moodle. You don't even need to read the textbook.

Your projects are assigned with little clarity and no direction. He is extremely kind but you hardly learn anything from class because most of class time is occupied with project presentations. He has trick questions on his tests all the time so read your questions carefully.

His teaching pace is very, very, slow... other than that class isn't too bad, material can be dry if you're not interested.

I signed up for Geog 1010 because I thought it would be easy marks. I am an 'A' student and attend class very regularly. The WebCT tests cover the most random topics that I swear we never learned. The lectures are like death, and the book SUCKS. Lectures done by different profs every week. Good luck! Our last test avg. was 50%!!!

Boring and his guest lecturers are even worse. Tests have very little to do with the insanely elementary notes taken during class

Text book was a huuuuuggee waste of money, and all the tests (which are in the testing center) hardly relate to the class at all. Do not take this class, in fact boycot Geography in general

Zzzzzzz... this guys could put the keenest keener to sleep with his lecture style. He is a nice enough man but very dry. His jokes were often inappropriate and usually not funny. Tests covered material that was vaguely touched on in class. If you enjoy attending class, I would recommend finding another instructor.

I am a solid B student and am taking business. I took Geography as an option as I thought it would be an easy mark. The tests were brutal, the lectures brutal, the guest profs brutal. I cant believe how hard and stupid this class was. Do NOT take this awful class!
