Comment:

Jim is a decent prof who relates his studies in climate change to the topics covered in the course. Class is based on two midterms (2X20%), four in-class group quizzes (4X5%), and lab (40%). Lab is very easy and the midterms are all essay/diagram based long answer questions. No textbook.

If you enjoy listening to a guy rant about how the NDP is the best government every lecture then sign up! Some of his classes were very interesting, but his Moodle exams were horrible. Read the texbook because that is what the tests are all about. Every. Single. Detail. Group exams are easy and are a good mark boost.

Fun proff, I can see why people like him. This class had three moodle exams that made you feel like you had no idea what he went over in lecture. His stories are good, but don't expect it to be an easy class. He basically just makes you read the textbook.

Was worried about his class after reading some of these reviews but I actually really enjoyed it! He made lectures interesting and somehow kept my focus throughout the 3hr class. Yes, the moodle exams are hard but he curves them and since the majority of the class does very averagely on them your grade will most likely be bumped up a couple letters

Jim knows his stuff, but he is lazy. Doesn't write his own tests nor does he sufficiently prepare students for them. You WILL be tested on material that has not been gone over or mentioned in class. 90% of the test is from the textbook, making lectures redundant except for the pop quizzes which are a mechanism to keep students from skipping class

The class is really easy but Bryne is not helpful at all, never answers emails and when he does he refers you to the notes which dont help, changes the final and due dates, and does not give marks back for months. Do not recommend a class with Bryne unless you want to learn about climate change and the work he is part of.

I took weather and climate with jim and I was looking forward to the cours before I took it and was very dissapointed after. He talks about things in class that aren't even relavint and that are never on the test. You might as well go to the class (in case theres a pop group assignment) and read the text while you're there.The test were impossible.

Yea a great prof my ass! he is funny nd everything but as a prof he wont explain anything in class! and his webCT exams are brutal and hard! you wont learn any thing from him and his class! ( Its all in the book) Not A GPA booster !

Great sense of humour and classes are extremely interesting and thought provoking. Easy exams as done in pairs, and quizzes based on chapters in text. Laid back lectures, watch videos most of the time, so makes up for it being a night class!

Field trip is just an excuse to get **** with the students. He's off-track, doesn't teach too much new material. Student discussion led class. No lectures, just discussions based on video series. This class is a waste of credits. Jim is lazy, and hates marking, so less writing is good for him.

You have to take this class. Yes, I agree with some of the comments from the other students that have been made on this site, but when you have a tough go at school Jim will make it all worth while. His field trips are awesome. It wouldn't matter if I got an F in any of his classes, I'd still take another one.

This class has interesting content, but Jim does not teach the content. Tests are based entirely on the text, in detail. Jim wastes pretty well all class time with stupid activities that do not teach us class material. His class is enjoyable.. but not valuable.
