Comment:

Kappen is a very gentle and caring older woman but she loses herself in her notes often and rambles on for all three hours. Tests are most of the points in this class and there is little to no direction towards what to study. Depends on the day if she will decide to grade your paper easy or hard. Miracle I made a B in her class really.

Comment:

I personally did not appreciate Diane Kappen as a teacher. Not only did her opening email to all students come off harsh, but she blatantly told me on my third paper that I wasn't understanding anything she was asking me to do. Overall, I didn't like her teaching style and found her rude.

I personally found Kappen to be a great professor! My advice: don't interrupt her class, ASK FOR HELP, and make sure you don't wait until the last moment to do things. I took her research methods class and she definitely made you work to get a passing grade. Again, I will stress, ask her for help if you are unsure of the directions she gives!!

I had a lot going on in my life during the semester in which I took her class, and she was very understanding and worked with me to try and get my grades where they needed to be. As long as you read what you're supposed to, show up, and participate in group projects, you'll do amazing. She's a gem!

Love her, the first day she gives you a paper with what we will do every single day in class. She is very organized. She even tells you what is going to be on the test but if you don't read the book you will fail. Enjoyable.

She has funny moments, however, as a teacher she is very poor. She gives in-class papers at random with no makeups, no exception. She is a good person, just not a good teacher. She also is unorganized and rushes through her lessons and expects you to be able to keep up.

If you have taken a Psych class in high school, this is slightly harder. BUT YOU HAVE TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. If you do not read it, you will fail. Kappen is amazing. It's like having a prof. mom.

THIS IS WHO YOU WANT FOR PSYCH! She's a little goofy and funny but her test's are easy! She doesn't try to trick you on multiple choice questions which is nice, seriously, take Prof. Kappen!

Prof. Kappen is a very nice person but a little scatter brained. It was no issue for me to follow her but I can see how some people may struggle. This class was good and her study guides helped me a lot! She gives a full outline at the beginning of each unit and it is in your best interest to print it off and use it.

She doesnt teach very well and rushes through her outlines. She make you ask to go to the bathroom and has a no cell phone policy. I felt like I was treated like a child or something. Also the class is very self learning through the book and her outlines.

Dr. Kappen is an incredibly sweet lady. Nerds like myself will particular enjoy having her as a professor as she is has absolute wealth of information. But, she is also very good at explaining in a way that one can understand, although you do need to ask if you don't understand and she will explain until you get it.

She is passionate about her job! She lectures the whole time but, her lectures are interesting and she connects them to real life experiences. She gives you notes which are highly recommended. Her notes are more helpful if you are in class as she goes over them. The final is really easy it's 100 of the same questions off your tests. STUDY for tests

Disrespectful & treats students like 3rd graders. Has expectations like no going to the restroom without permission and absolutely no looking at your cell phone unless you want to be called out. She assumes all students have no responsibilities besides school. Classes are just her rushing through outlines wo explaining so she can get home asap.

Dr. Kappen REALLY knows her stuff! Admittedly her lecture style is a bit left of center, but she works hard to make sure everyone is following along, who wants to be! She has lead quite an interesting life which she related to the subject when pissible. If you aren't asking her questions or participating in her discussion you are missing out!
