Comment:

Professor Meuser is very straightforward. All of the homework is optional, but all the quizzes (lowest one is dropped) are homework problems straight from the book. Expect a lot of notes - from when you start class, all the way to the end. Very good at drawing visuals, which helps comprehension of the material. Very kind, flexible, and caring.

Extremely easy class, if you've done the homework, expect nothing short of an A. This is a homework based class with one of the friendliest, kindest teachers, who makes brilliant ice cream! Diane is life!

Overall not bad. The only issue I had was that she never gave you a context for why the concepts you were learning were useful/why they are important outside of just the definitions. She doesn't focus much on applications--you show up, learn the math, and you get tested on it. Weekly quizzes in this class are mandatory, but drops your lowest quiz.

I would not recommend this professor. The notes she gives in lecture do not help with the homework or discussion problems. When comparing notes with students in another professor's section they were much better prepared for the work. Although she can be entertaining, it is not worth not understanding the material.

Comment:

Meuser is pretty organized. It's really easy to take notes and even easier to refer to the notes when confused. She also goes out of her way to reveal as much as the final as she's allowed to. The class (esp. the final) is HARD. I had 8am with her. I know it sounds difficult but get a good friend in the class to help you through it.

First of all, a lot of people here seem to criticize her "example approach". I think it's useful, in fact she really prepares you for the tests. However, this is mostly due to the fact that her lectures are the textbook verbatim. So if you can read a book, the lectures are not necessary but still useful. Friendly and approachable, do recommend.

Prof. Meuser is a good teacher. Her pace is slow, but not monotonous and she encourages class participation. Tests weren't easy, but doable if you knew the material well. She has an inviting personality which kept the class pretty happy throughout the term.

DO NOT take her class if it's at 8AM. You will end up skipping a lot and you will fall asleep half the time. Her presentation may not be for everyone. She spends more time on examples than explaining why or how things are actually done. Very hard for someone like me to apply concepts to exam and quiz problems.

Very engaging professor, thrives on examples. Allows calculator and note card for exams. There was no cum. final. Weekly quizzes and lecture attendance taken. Fun lady to talk to and communicates well, made course easier than it should have been. "mmmkay"

Best prof I've had yet;Ive had no trouble with this course thanks to her. Crystal clear, lots of examples.Amazing notes: spend effort understanding them, and you'll get an A. TF is also one of the best. Weekly quizzes based on homework,exams(3) are exactly what you learn, no final. Fair grading, helpful, makes hard topics easy.Encouraging and nice.

Meuser, despite her many random (sometimes* humorous) musings is an excellent teacher. Easy A in this course. Offers help during office hours or several times a week at night, teaches in a round about manner, but makes sure you know the important stuff. This is an easy class if you put in a minimal amount of effort (i.e. do all the regular stuff).

One of my favorite teachers at BU! She is quirky, fun, and always keeps things interesting (she has a really great sense of humor). She writes EVERYTHING on the board, so taking notes is very easy to do. Also, she is very available to students who need help outside of class. Definitely a major asset to the math department at BU.

monotone, so quirky!!!When introducing a new topic, she always show a lot of "wrong ways" of solving the problem at first, i have an 8am class, so when she finally start showing the right way, half of the class has already fallen asleep.

She takes attendance so make sure you show up. She also hates when people come in late or leave early-- she may even call you out on it. She is very strange. She goes over a ton of examples in class so its easy to understand the topics. You have quizzes every week in discussion and 3 exams that you are allowed to use a cheat sheet and calculator on

Prof. Meuser is rather quirky. Classwise, she does NOT encourage class participation, so if you need that, don't enroll. She goes so slowly that her courses cover less material than other sections, so if you need to go on in calc, take another class. If you hate math, this one's for you. She grades on a wicked curve. Good for some. Bad for others.

She explains everything very well so you don't need to read the textbook except 8am class is dreadful. HW not collected and easy quizzes. Grades nicely entire class until the final grade when she lowers the grades of people who do too good in her class.

Meuser was one of the hardest professors I've ever had at BU. I never studied that much for a test because she was incompetent at explaining anything! The TF was extremely unhelpful and never finished doing a problem so you'd never know how to do a problem completely if you asked her. BUY THE TEXTBOOK! I did a lot of self teaching in this class.
