Prof. Peng is an expert. Certainly good at what he teaches. Probably best if he teaches graduate students at this point in his career because he has lost patience for undergraduate students. Nonetheless, Peng's classes are actually not very hard. All you have to do is practice a lot of questions. (esp. his past ones) and stay on track.

Zero idea what's going on in lectures. Won't help you when you go to his office, tells you you should know it. Makes you memorize every equation he's gone over in class including the most complicated ones you've ever seen for the exam. Is way too old to be teaching. One of the worst profs I've ever had... and I've had some pretty low ones

Absolutely terrible prof. Hard to stay awake with his mumbling, monotone voice. Poor explainations to questions asked and speaks down to students. Should probably go back to his research because he is a poor teacher. Doesnt relate to students and leaves them "out to dry" with respect to understanding course material. Would avoid if possible. GL

Provides flawless notes and always has an open door for students. Dr. Peng is a very sincere professor who genuinely cares about the student body. I am very proud to say that Dr. Peng was my professor. He is a very tough marker and examiner but acknowledges students efforts and rewards those who try hard.

Tricks of how to pass his class: 1) Do examples, read textbook to understand the concept. 2) Find and complete previous exams (as many as you can) 3) Complete the exam slowly and carefully, you would earn more marks to complete 2/4 questions correctly than completing 4/4 questions partially correct. 4)Don't Study all night before exams (trust me)

I highly enjoyed Dr. Peng's class. Although he is a hard marker, it works as motivation in order to do well. I found this class intellectually stimulating and exciting. It was an honor to be taught by someone so accomplished in his field of study.

Extremely challenging class. Dr. Peng is fair but tough. If you do your homework and go to class you will pass. Most students who are bitter towards him did not do this.

Very unpleasant professor, condesending to students. Puts material on tests that no student would ever know how to do by reading his notes or the textbook. After every test gives the 'I can't believe how stupid you all are' speech. Once gave a student -30% on a test (yes negative 30%). Apparently zero is no longer the minimum mark.

Not a terrible teacher and very smart, actually, incredibly unbelieveably smart, though his arrogance and lack of communication skills make the class hard to follow and if you get a question right on a test he can still give you ZERO if he doesn't like how you arrived at the answer.

Lecture material is a small part of exam/assignment material....Learn from the text, and attend the problem labs! Our two quizzes AND midterm were both reused copies from the previous year (word for word with small changes to numbers)...Get them from a third year! VERY harsh marker! Sit near the front...He's a terribly quiet speaker.
