Comment:

A lot of the material that Dr. Sarkar-Dey teaches is challenging, thus it is not her fault that students do poorly in her class. Try your best to do well on homeworks because that can really boost your grade. Additionally, tests are fair. Dr. Sarkar-Dey is always willing to talk to students if they have a problem in the course.

I notice that a lot of the poor marks come from people who are in lower-level classes, thus, they are students blaming the teacher for the class. She is extremely fair, loves the material, and one can tell that she appreciates when students try hard and want to learn the material. If this sounds like you, you will do well and enjoy the class.

She is a very very difficult proffesor. She has the most annoying english accent ever. Head of the math department so she is very over qualified for lower level math courses. She is a nice woman and she is willing to help but she doesnt know how to break down problems into more simpler equations.

It is true that she does have an accent, but speaks english very well. Her quizzes are usually homework problems so I would recommend doing and studying the homework. the final was some what difficult but not to bad

Dipa was a difficult professor, and I took her for many of my upper level classes (she was also my advisor). Dipa prepared me so well for the real world after graduation (I'm an operational consultant) and I've definitely used much of what I learned from her (problem solving techniques, not necessarily Math formulas). I absolutely recommend her.

Her quizzes were basically the the previous weeks homework, so just do the homework and study it and you should do fine. She does have a accent but her English is perfect. Also she is very helpful when it comes to problems you can't understand.

If you want to furiously copy down notes all class, and then have homeword assignments where you have to figure out if the notes are right or not, take her. If you want someone who can speak english, knows what shes talking about, and can teach instead of just read what she's writing on the board, don't take her.

I was afraid to take her because of her ratings, Don't be! I have Business Calc with her and she's great.I've never taken Calc. before, and I have a high A. She barely has an accent and is easy to understand. She's very nice and knows her stuff. She was great at introducing a foreign concept to me. I strongly recommend her.

Probably the best math teacher I have ever had. She may not be the best for people who cant do basic algebra or cant understand anyone who isn't from America. Basically, if you're a jerk who cries all the time about things you won't let yourself understand, don't waste her time by taking this class.

Are you all serious? Just because a teacher won't hold your hand through a class does not make it hard. She teaches everything you need to know and is very helpful both in and outside of the classroom. We are not in kindergarten anymore people. Great teacher!

unless you have a degree in mathematics already before taking her, your chances of surviving her are slim to none. ridiculous amounts of homework and group homeworks are even harder. tests and quizzes can be easy if you spend 3 hours on homework everyday
