Comment:

CSC111 was rough and Dominique was a good professor, but you really need to pay attention to his lectures. He uses powerpoints during lectures and tries to make class fun. He's really busy, so take advantage of TA hours if you can't go to his. Also use PIAZZA to ask him and classmates questions if you're stuck.

I don't think I've ever suffered as much in a class for an A. Maybe my brain just isn't wired for coding or but this professor constantly had very unclear assignments. Half the time, I couldn't even figure out what he wanted me to code. The homework grader had some sort of issue every other week.

i love him!!!!! i took csc111 as a requirement for my major and was initially dreading it, but now i want to take more comsci classes! lectures are sometimes a little dull, but he's super clear. take this class!

His class is clear and a lot of fun, it will make you want to programm more ! Pair programming is also very useful. Little assignements each week but this gets you prepared for the exam And finally Dominique is adorable, funny and cares a lot about his students

You should take this class whether or NOT you like programming, because this guy will make you love it. I assure you might even consider changing your major! The only thing I didn't like that much was the written mid-term because I got too used to typing on the text editor, but it did test my understanding of the material. TAKE THIS CLASS!

Professor Thiebaut was a very intelligent, helpful professor. He was very prompt with answering emails, and made a very tedious topic seem fun. However, be aware that his grading style will switch mid-semester from "automatic" (you will be able to fix mistakes and receive a 100) to "non-automatic" (you will have to wait to see the grade received).

His lectures can be a little dry, and so I've spent a fair amount of time tuning him out in CSC 111. But he cares about his students and works hard to help them learn. He answers questions without giving you the solution right off the bat, letting you figure it out on your own.

At the beginning python was very abstract to me, but this professor made me love programming!. His expectations of you are high and his assignments are challenging, but he will help you get there! he is also a very lenient grader. He's blessed with superb lecturing abilities as well as that dreamy french accent. He's an awesome professor

I really liked Dominique. I went into his class with no understanding whatsoever of computers, and ended up wanting to study CSC. He's super nice and helpful at office hours. I also like his French accent--it made the class even more entertaining.

Dominique is one of the best teachers I've had at Smith. He keeps the class engaged, is open to questions, and presents material in different ways to appeal to different learning styles. But he's tough, and he expects you to do a lot of work outside the class. If you're self disciplined, you'll be fine. If you're like me, you'll end up with a C

He is the reason I almost changed my major. Terrible lecturer, not responsive to questions, almost like a dictator. I did learn a lot from him, but it was painful. As small as the CS dept is, its hard to avoid, him, but try your best.

He uses clarifying metaphors to explain aspects of coding. He has a very good understanding of how to explain material to first time programmers and the book he uses is also very helpful. He expects you to program a little each day so the workload gets exponentially harder. WARNING: NOT A BLOW OFF CLASS

I've had better high school teachers in CS. Programming assignments were annoying in a way that was not useful. Lab is a waste of time. The french accent, however entertaining, did not help his ability to answer questions.
