brilliant researcher...biased...but he admits it, and challenges students to formulate their own opinions. It's too bad he's retired, he was an asset to the fields of psychology & criminology at Carleton.

Arrogant and overtly cocky professor - made you feel like an idiot if you didn't know something like we were supposed to already have 3 PhD's on the wall when we entered the class! As a Crim. major I was excited to take the course but that excitement quickly died once I realized the he used the class as an excuse to brag about HIS accomplishments!

Learning what's going on instead of textbook definitions-- very interesting! Nice guy, helpful, he giggles randomly throughout lectures!

I found that he reffered to the textbook frequently (could this have been due to his authorship?) but it made studying easy, because the stuff he went over in class was what was in the text, unlike other classes I've had where they contradict eachother. I liked the set up of the course that way. I think he's a good guy who likes and knows his stuff

this guy looks like one of the faces on the board game "guess who." The class lectures were painful to say the least...final was long but you are provided with the questions before hand.

This man is a god among men for Criminology. He is the reason Carleton has a Crim Program. However I dont reccomend this class who is not in a Crim degree as the learning curve may be steep. Midterms are easy 30-40 minutes tops, Final essays are a nightmare to prepare for.

Worst class I've taken at Carleton. I was so disappointed by this prof. And the final exam is crazy and ridiculous...multiple choice, brief answers AND a booklet or more long essay! Avoid this class at all cost if you can!!!!!!

Absolutely HATED this course! I was so looking forward to it but the prof completely ruined it for me. He is bizarre...laughing all the time at God knows what. He is boring, makes an interesting subject dry and draging. Textbook is just horrendous, exams are kind of hard. Skip it if you can!

Dropped this class cause i just couldn't take the lectures/readings. very dry. take "serial killers" if you can, if you're looking for a really interesting course. Seems like a nice guy - too bad.

Text Book is HORRIBLE! Class info is sortive interesting at times, VERY dry though. Tough midterms and final. He is a very knowledgeable man and is interested in what he teaches, but expects you to be at the same level he is at. Because of the content of the class, dont take it if you dont need too.

I loved the course. The text book sucked! Really unclear. Could have been better written or edited you could tell it was a bunch of scientists. Classes made up for it very interesting/ very informative.

Haaaaaated the class. Thought it was going to be much more interesting. The exams are hard, and he expects way too much from his students, he thinks that we all have 50 years experience of sudying this stuff! He's totally biased and gives vague answers to your questions. The man NEEDS to retire!!!

Loved his course, learned different perspectives on criminal behaviour. Course worth the money but only if you're really interested in the subject enough to go thru nitty gritty details of research. Final was great - he gives you questions beforehand.

He is nice enough but that doesn't make his course content make any sense. You can't read the book if you wanted to because its too condensed. He is smart, but is completely bias to his own work and thinks all his students are doing their masters in psyc
