I had Dr. Grady for two separate courses. Overall I enjoyed his courses, his approach and attention to detail. Sometimes lectures were longer than they needed to, but otherwise the experience was eye-opening, thought provoking and engaging. I looked at Dr. Grady as a leader and mentor and was left with a lasting memory as a result.

Comment:

Very nice and pleasant man. Lectures can be a little long, especially if you have an early morning class. Tests are all MC and require a lot of memorization, but they are doable. He really wants you to learn by teaching and through class discussions. He really wants to get to know students and help them find and pursue what they're interested in.

This class made me change my major. The information was really boring and the way he presents it doesn't help. Way too much info needed for tests and he takes really complicated notes that are difficult to study from. I would stay away from him if I could.

awful. Lectures really boring and rambles off topic for entire class. Doesn't give coherent notes. test questions dont make clear sense and cover so much material. dont bother reading the book just study class notes. didnt learn our names and we were his only class. he hardly teaches and just has the class do lots of hour-40 min presentations.

Awful class with an awful teacher. It is required for the major so you are gonna have to suck it up and take it but just know that it is going to be awful. Class lectures last the whole class (and sometimes longer) and tests cover so much material it is hard to study for. Presentations and paper grades will be pretty high though.

He is a good guy. The class is a little boring but its not as hard as you would expect Senior Sem to be... he likes to hear himself talk, but he is understanding and he will work with his students! He doesn't think that being an event planner is a real career ... so if that is your goal, don't take his class he will end up pissing you off!

He has some pretty open class discussions that aren't too bad, but a bit repetitive. Senior sem- it's not as hard as other classes. But, since he's a Broadcast man, you're going to want to look sharp and really work on presentation skills (that's seirously all he grades on). Loves what he's talking about, so at least he's passionate. Take sen sem.

A little boring, but a classic professor in the School. He makes pretty off the wall comments and is seldom helpful when you ask for criticism of your work, but the majority of assignments are done in class and they're always easy to complete. Don't go out of your way to take him, but he's decent if you have to have him.

Don Grady was awesome. I had him back in '93-95, and he was just great. Hands down my favorite professor there during my years at Elon. I haven't stopped in and visited in quite some time....but need to do so soon. He actually made you think for yourself, and let you make decisions on your own. Just an all around great guy/teacher as far as I'm concerned.

For a department head, this guy cannot teach a thing. Makes the class teach for him. Tests and assignments are straight forward and he always gives tons of feedback and is a good help in that way. Definitely take if you want to be an on-air person in the comm world.

awesome guy- nice as can be- again easy sen seminar- learn a lot- very quirky- once asked us if it was ok to buy his wife a vaccum cleaner for her birthday present- told him yes if he wanted to be in the dog house for about 20 years-
