He is a great professor, his classes are totally worth attending. He really knows how to explain the subject, and answers all the questions you have. His exams are not easy, though. You'll have to work hard and go to his office after class to have him answer the huge amount of questions that came up while you were studying.

Hummels is like a sheet of silk lying atop a block of solid steel. Such a nice guy that he's hard to hate, but you really come close to it by the end of the class. He's helpful if you talk to him, but the work is insanely hard.

The hardest prof. I've ever had. And when you ask for help, acts like - "i figured this on my own, now you go do it". Its a shame that he teaches some harder subjects in the department. They should get someone who can inspire students and make challenging topics interesting, not someone who doesn't bother and is unconcerned for student's progress.

An appalling lack of concern for the welfare or progress of his students. When you see him in his office, he acts like you're the stupidest person in the world. Also, it seems like he doesn't want to bother helping you, but is too reserved to say so.

Class was always fun and worth going to but the material that we went over in class was not enough to prepare us for doing the hw and for the tests. Whenever he is in his office he is always willing to help you. He will go through problems in glory detail and explain each little piece to you but the questions on test and hw are harder than hell.

Horrible class. Worst I have ever taken at the University of Maine. Absolutely no homework during the first 8 weeks of the semester... then, Wham! He loaded it on at the end... for the first test, we were unprepared, for the second, we were burned out.
