Wines was definitely interesting for a 80 year old man and I would have loved to have come into contact with him outside of a classroom setting. With that being said, the class is way too much work for a core requirement in terms of writing and his voice was way to dull for an 830.

Understanding historical change in early modern europe- noone comes to class. his lectures are irrelevant. he grades easy but he gives 8 page papers every 2 weeks that have nothing to do what is taught in class. don't take it, too much work for a core class.

wines is a really nice guy and knows lots of interesting historical facts but is a terrible teacher. i would not recommend his class. you have like 8 long papers and the mt and fe are both essays .. hes a fairly easy grader but soo boring

AWFUL teacher do not take him at all... class is so pointless his notes are on stupid things like St Ignatius Loyola, who has nothing to do with western enlightenment... hes so boring and his midterm consists of all the reading you were supposed to do but he doesnt tell you that you are supposed to read...good call prof wines.. not

Just because he is a nice guy doesnt mean he is a good teacher. He is the worst teacher I have ever had. We spent the first 2 weeks talking about primary sources, he told us the history of potatoes, he gave assignments that have nothing to do with the class, and a test had a question on American history. His lectures are irrelevant! Stay away!

hes really nice but class lectures have nothing to do with the reading or what's on the test. he takes attendance for like the first 3 classes and then stops so u don't have to come to class. You wont miss anything important and he doesn't know who any of his students are- totally anonymous atmosphere. If that sounds good, go for it.

This is the stupidest class you will ever take at Fordham. The readings he assigns are useless because he doesnt talk about them in class. His papers are on the most ridiculous topics ever and he always tells boring stories about insignificant things. If you want to catch up on your sleep, then take him, otherwise save yourself the frustration.

This guy can be pretty nice and seems interesting sometimes, but the class is seriously a total bore. He only assigns papers, but they are rediculous topics and he's a total jerk when it comes to grading. I went to class, office hours, and did the max amount of work and got nowhere! He's awful!

pretty cool guy but his class is totally irrelevant. his papers are fairly easy, tests arent bad, but the material is not on the reading, and not much from class lectures. i found it to be not very rewarding at all. not a bad class but i wouldnt recommend. funny guy but a dud of a class.

Dr. Wines is a great professor and a great guy. He is a complete connoisseur of History, and his stories are entertaining and interesting. All you have to do to enjoy what may seem to be a boring class is sit back and listen to his stories.

BORING! Learn to sleep with your eyes open. Learn bearly anything however you can show up to 2 classes and he doesn't care. Just get the notes and you will be fine. Tests are easy, papers are annoying but he is not a tough grader. Did min. & got A-
