He is an overall sweet old man, but teaching is not his thing. If you never took calculus in high school or anytime previous to his calc class, DONT take his class or you will struggle through it all teaching yourself from youtube videos or the math center.

Can be confusing at times, but overall is a good guy and does a decent enough job teaching the course. Biggest criticism is that he will try to do tough arithmetic in his head and doesn't catch those errors very quickly. Exams are fair but will have one or two questions that will throw you off, but it won't hurt your grade.

Sweet guy, seems to be very knowledgeable. Cannot teach whatsoever. Muench rambles on and on and makes concepts that would typically be pretty easy to understand terribly confusing. This is my most frustrating class this semester.

Really was a long, boring class to be in. Often times will teach you old school, long ways to do math problems. Says there will be a few tests and 8 or so quizzes, but I think he forgot about half of them.

Muench truly knows his stuff when it comes to calc, however it will take him an hour and a half to explain a simple derivation concept. such as how to determine the derivative of a graph of an x^3, it took him 1.5 hours to say that the derivative crosses the x axis when the x^3 reaches a max and min.

He genuinely doesn't seem to care about what students are learning. Verbally assigns homework and gives out broken code to complete homework assignments. Incapable of answering questions that "think outside the box". He will curve the class if everyone does poorly, so make friends.

Dr. Muench is a nice guy but his lectures often are repetitive. We talked about the same things day after day and did not have much of a chance to practice the concepts in class. We were supposed to have multiple exams and only ended up having two along with some small homework assignments. Help is provided if you ask for it

He has an amazing wealth of knowledge but is very easily distracted. Very hard to stay awake in his modeling class, the material is very boring and simple.

I took Linear Algebra with him. The class wasn't easy but you have to make sure you understand the concepts discussed otherwise you won't do well on the exams. Grade is based practically entirely on exams and the final. Small HWs here and there.

No clue to how his grade was based. Class was in a computer lab, studied basic math systems. Often makes mistakes in his work, spends only about 20 minutes learning new material. Go to class and study for the final, if you do well you should be alright.

Dr. Muench is very helpful outside of class. He grades fairly and his exams, though difficult, are reasonable. He does get off track during lecture and he will confuse you (and himself) at times. He will happily clarify an issue for you during office hours or after class.

Guys all over the place. We would spend 20 min doing a problem that was completely wrong and then as a class had to figure out why "that didnt work?". Great guy and willing to help but I would avoid his classes if you need to know the material for future courses. Otherwise if its the last check in the box this is the class u need to be in!

He does not teach well at all. Very hard to follow what he is teaching in class and what taught and what you are expected to know are on two different levels. He does not prepare you at all.

A little hard to understand what he's trying to teach, and sometimes assigns quizzes or homeworks and then forgets the next day. If you somewhat know what you're doing then you should be fine.

This Class is horrible. He is incredibly boring and his explanations about the work don't help you at all. He makes you do most work by hand contrary to using the calculator. He just changed my classes syllabus giving us a 2 question quiz at the end of every week which is more of a pain than anything. I don't recommend you take this teacher.

He just stands up at the board and rambles on and on and on. He gets confused by his own work and it confuses you. I would try to take this with another professor if possible.

Positives: Easy class, minimal assignments, very few notes to take, not stenuous at all. Negatives: Assignments came on top of each other towards end. Importance in his class (10=high, 1=low): Listening: 8, Readings: 1, Participation: 2). A stand-up gentleman. Great teacher, and friendly. Course not hard. Textbook not really needed :-)

One of the better professors in the comp. sci. dept. However, he's entitled to his opinion, as I am, and I tend to agree with him about SJFC sports. A pre-requisite to teaching is not a love for the athletic dept.
