I took Biological Explorations from Don, and had to have been the worst class I have ever taken at GFU. He was super tough on grading and I missed a class because I was sick and he would not excuse me. He definitely needs to understand that we are not robots. Will never ever take a class by him again!

Dr. Powers is very tough on incoming Freshman. You have to really prove yourself to him before you earn his respect. Get ready to be humbled, that's all I will say. I took Biology 211 and 212 from him.

Bio Explorations- This class is required, which really sucks. He gave me an F on my career presentation so I withdrew, but I'm just gonna have to retake it if I wanna graduate in this major. I am definitely considering changing my major to chem to avoid this class. Also missed class for medical reasons and still lost points, a lot of points.

Take with caution... Course is hard and requires a lot of time such as typing up lists outside of class etc. Professor knows his stuff, however if you don't make yourself known in his class he may look over you. He reads a lot from his power point sides Tests are hard 90% from textbook and 10% from his own lecture. Trip at the en is fun.

Better hope your a lab assistant or research assistant for him or you might be in trouble. He has favorites and judges everyone. To the below comment, he doesn't go out of his way to help, only his favorites. Spends most of his time working on his research interest and not helping his students.

Powers is a very (VERY!) difficult professor, but he genuinely cares about the quality of his classes. If a student cares enough to approach him and get past his gruffness, he is very helpful and goes above and beyond. You may not be ecstatic about your grade, but when you do well, you know that you really did well!

As an introductory to bio teacher he is very difficult and hard to follow. For people who do not like, enjoy, or find interest in this field, DO NOT take from him. For biology majors, he is wonderful. Unfortunatly for this review, i am not a biology major. And i recieved a very embarassing grade for the amount of work i put into the course.

Crazy guy. Very interesting everyone told me to drop my class with him. Kind of hard and unclear at times but knows his stuff. Probably wouldn't take anything from him if you're an uneasy person.
