I'm not a history major but was interested in Chinese history and decided to take the course. It was very interesting, and i learned a lot from him. His course had two papers and one final. He grades very fairly, and does not expect you to memorize dates like many other history teachers. Overall i would have to say he's a great professor.

Prof. Price is hands down an amazing professor. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic in the field. Tests and essays are not hard. His testing methods are definitely fair, but grade is ultimately decided by TA. Highly recommended for GEs.

Class wasnt challenging unless you like reading and memorizing. A little comprehension and analysis/opinion. Your grade is dependent on you TA, some are very helpful with your papers while others aren't. I got by barely doing all the readings and paying attention in class, if not daydreaming. Overal easy class to meet GE.

Very nice and intelligent guy. Lectures are monotone, not interactive, but if you ask a question, he'll answer it well. Readings are more lit than history. 3 5 page papers + midterm : pick any 3 items. Study guides (3 prompts - he'll pick 1 at exam, TAs will hint which prompt - and all IDs) for exams. Sections are mandatory, lectures are not.

Took 9A in Spring 2007. Great class, but I skipped many lectures. The assigned readings, especially the novels, had me open up a new interest in Asian history. Lectures get boring easily, but discussion makes up for it. Be willing to contribute during discussion as well. If you're armed with a good memory, the exams will be quite easy.

Price is an approachable and awesome professor in general. The lectures are not the most lively in the world, but I learned a lot from them and was always interested. If you ever need help you can always find him in his office in his hours. Grades fairly, but A LOT of reading! If you like the subject, though, you'll enjoy this class :) I recommend!

I've had Prof. Price for 191E and 102X. His style of speaking and presentation was boring in a big lecture (191E), but it was also relatively easy to pass. His real talent is in small seminars (102X) where likes to hear, offer, and discuss ideas and critiques. 102X was one of my favorite classes (in 4 years), but it is also a major commitment.

The class is OK. Learned a lot , mostly from reading. Students' grades were depended on the TAs. His TAs were difficult in general.

As nice as Price is, he's pretty boring. He's very traditional and lectures straight at you. Nonetheless, he can be interesting and his class is easy. You gotta have some interest in Chinese history, or you might snore off.

Very sweet older man. The class is very easy, I got an A- and did not do much reading and skipped most of the last half of the course's lectures. Unless you are interested in Asian history, the class will probably be pretty boring.

Very knowledgable, though lectures tend to steer off-course, even with outlines. Take notes, because his lectures are much better than what you can get out of the book (the most convoluted piece of writing ever). TA Corbally brought everything down to earth in case things got a little too out there.

History 9A was great. It is a really easy going class and you get to learn at your own pace. He makes exams and papers really flexible. I recommend this class. Its really freshman friendly. Lectures do get boring but the most important thing is you learn. TA Corbally discussions were absolutely fun.

Knows his history and knows how to express it. However, his lectures tend to become a bit boring where he essentially is just throwing facts at you to jot down (which you can get from the text). TA's grade all papers/exams. If you're good at memorization/regurgitation, then you'll do fine on his exams. It was an easy A+ for me.

Uses the board for a little outlining. Lets you know what is important. Papers flexible: you can do one that lets you synthesize things yourself or you can do the straightforward regurgitation paper. Grading is fair and comments are actually useful. Movies in class. REALLY nice old man. Worst part was 8am; just couldn't go consistently

Boring lectures, boring teacher. TA grades everything, so you can get a good grade just by attending section (which is 20% of your grade) and doing well on the papers. VERY BORING and UNHELPFUL teacher!!!

Price is a very oldschool lecturer. He stands up in front of the class and orates until you think your ears will fall off. He's about as interesting as watching paint dry. On a positive note he prints out a lecture outline and sticks to it religiously, so if you nod of during class you still know what is going on. Grading is done only by your ta
