Don Horton is one of the best professors that prepares you for the "real world". If you are a lazy worthless POS snowflake that thinks you can skim by, you are not prepared to work in engineering in the "Real World". Professor Horton is one of the best!

Worst teacher I've had. He doesn't grade on if the problem is correct or not, he grades on if it looks the way he wants it to. He assigned labs using equipment that he didn't know how to use and he was never actually present during the lab time. He walked in, handed out the lab, and then left. Avoid him no matter what the class is if possible.

One of the worst professors I have had the opportunity to take at SPSU. He turned the course into a review of Electrical Principles. I guess he covered his rear by making sure to give the class 50 handouts per lecture along with lots of busy work. Take Horton if you want to know what engineering was like in the 70s-80s, otherwise pass

If any of the material you are expecting to learn has changed in the last 20 years, do not bother taking Horton. He has a thorough grasp of engineering principles but next to zero grasp of how they are used in today's job place. He requires everything be hand written and has refused typed reports. Not worth the effort if someone else is available

I like this guy as a person but hate him as a professor. He has no clear breakdown of his class just an endless pile of unrelated assignments. I took a fluid mechanics lab, half of the lab assignments got replaced with FE problems a review of engineering graphics ( hand sketch Isometric) and a review of technical writing.

If you do not have an extra 10 hours a week outside of class to dedicate to a class, do not take Prof. Horton. That being said, I would recommend you take one of this Prof.'s classes during your college career. He WILL push you. He WILL frustrate you. But the engineering skills you will gain make his classes worth taking.

If you want a degree as easily and quickly as possible avoid Horton at all costs, but if you actually want to be a "true" engineer you NEED to take him. Do the work and take advantage of all extra credit and you'll get a good grade. You will be stressed by the workload tho, one guy snapped and started yelling at him in class, it was nuts!!

This guy initially seems a little abrasive. The truth,he is real world. He will make sure you know your stuff by making you do some assignments over, which is a great opportunity to get it right and learn more. Come to class prepared because he insists you participate. He is one of the best but be prepared to work!

I would only recommend taking this class if you have countless hours to devote to homework and redoing your work. Be prepared to do all your work over and over again if it is not perfect. Very demanding and difficult.

Some people get Horton-some don't. Once you understand that he really cares about you as a person, a student, and future engineer you will understand why he is so demanding. Be prepared to spend hours outside of class. Be prepared to be belittled in class. But also be prepared to learn the basis for what you need to succeed as an engineer.

The toughest teacher i have seen. He will insult you in front of the class, very unclear and will make you do your work over and over again. If you stay in this class you are likely to get an A. But its a lot of torture.

A very demanding and rigorours professor, but incredibly fair and helpful. The people who criticize him are the ones who never should have been admitted to the school. Horton truly cares about real students.

He sorts out who will pass and who will fail quickly. He wants the work done PERFECT, and he rewards hard work. He gives you PLENTY of chances to make your work perfect, and unless you don't try or can't see things spatially you should do good. He is hard though and is at school ALL the time and very willing to help.

Extremely in your face prof, very hard to handle and tough grader......but.....he will go out of his way to help you if you ask him. He is at school more than any other professor and is willing to help you learn. But you have to ask....a lot. And you'll know your stuff when you leave his class too.

Put in more work for this class than any other i've taken. had to fight for any credit on any project. he will assign bonus work and then never count it/ lose it. he is unclear with help, most of it is "this is wrong, start over".
