Dr. Palumbo is a fantastic english teacher. He understands each student has diffrent needs. Instead of having lectures every time you meet all at once every other week to turn in a RD then he meets with you one on one to correct your RD before turning in the final. If you follow his directions your skills will increase and it will be an easy A.

Be ready to write --- but he gives good feedback. You will only go to class one day a week. The second day you meet with him in his office for 20 minutes, once a week for feedback on your paper. Solid choice . - no worries.

Donald Palumbo is a great professor. There are 4 novels (purchase) and 4 films (watch in class). Plenty of time to read (but make sure you don't wait!) & after each there is a quiz (15 questions/2 points each, only need 10 right for 100%. There's 4 simple group projects, just follow prompt. 3 exams, graded tough. Attendance counts towards grade.

Dr. Palumbo is a really good teacher. The assignments are easy-you have to read. Big deal. Then you discuss in class. The tests are from the discussions. It's all pretty simple & easy. He does take attendance which can help or hurt your grade. He's very helpful & wants you to succeed. Very interesting classes. Take them.

Dr. Palumbo is really nice. There is a lot of reading but it's not ridiculous. Remembering everything for his tests is a little difficult but nothing awful. He does take random attendance, if you're not there you don't get your points that can make you exempt from the final.

His class is easy if you read the short stories. He gives short quizzes after each reading which aren't too hard. He is a hard grader on his exams, not many people can make A's on them. Attendance and quizzes are majority of his grade so if you read & go to class you will be okay. Easy for a lit credit

Had him for short stories. Great and understanding teacher. Tests and quizzes are simple and either 5-10 questions. questions like "what color hat was mr smiths wife wearing in the story" something so simple just to see if you read the story. If I could have him for every class I would. He is very easy going and an all around great teacher.

Palumbo is extremely friendly, his classes are fun, and the books you have to read are interesting. I am taking him for both Science Fiction and Short Stories and he is my favorite professor. He is by far the best English professor at ECU and a great guy too!

Palumbo's scifi course was VERY easy compared to other lit courses. He gives you PLENTY of time to read the texts and the texts are good reads and not boring at all. Quizzes are simple if you read the book, he PREACHES Joseph Campbell's mythology cycle which is useful for engl. majors to learn. Good class for a humanities requirement

Donald is a very good teacher and teaches the short story very well. He does go out on limbs at times but usually projects what he wants to say. Few tests in the class, if you read weekly like your supposed to, you can pass his easy quizzes. Good quiz grades and decent attendance will get you out of the final exam...Worth taking...GPA booster!

Class is so easy. You have to read the novels but the quizzes are easy. You have class discussions but he helps out the groups for the most part. Test are based on discussions. You watch like three movies and they are good ones. Monomyth will get on your nerves after a while. I am making a B because I didn't do hot on the first test. Easy A!

Sci-Fi. He's very into the class. You watch a couple movies and have to read 4 novels. Attendance not really mandatory, but he does take attendance on discussion days. Group discussions are easy, he does most of the talking. Talking about the monomyth does get tiring after the second or third time. Very lax with making up missed quizzes.

Nice guy, but a little odd. Really easy course; just read the books and you're fine. If you want to get a little more indepth or talk about something other than the monomyth, this class is NOT for you.

I took ENGL 1000 with him for a summer session class. It was okay- he's a little goofy, little off the wall, and thinks he's a bit funnier than he really is. But he tries hard, and he really enjoys the stuff. Read SHORT stories, discuss much before test, tests are essays but not hard. Go to class, read, and take notes, and you'll get an A like me!

Class is SO boring and stories suck, but easy A if you put the time in to be prepared for the midterm and write a good paper. 60% of the class is pretty much given to you with attendence and quizzes, the other 40% is earned.

Comment:
This class is not an easy A, it's an easy B. I'm a very good writer and I got slammed by his grading. 60% of this class is indeed very easy. All of the stories pretty much suck but as long as you read them, you have to be stupid to fail the quizzes. As long as you go to class and do well on the quizzes, yes, 60% of your grade will be an A. In addition, you wont have to take the final. But it really makes no sense of Dr. Palumbo to have his class consist of these easy ass quizzes and then randomly throw in an in-class assessment that he grades fairly hard. At least the final paper gives you some options and I have to give credit to Dr. Palumbo for letting people write their own short stories and turn those instead of having to do a paper. Why not make the class more writing based and read less stories? Because I got a D on my midterm and a B on my final paper, it was impossible for me to make an A in the class. In terms of other aspects of the class, I found it very ironic that Dr. P chided us towards the end of the semester about not doing a lot of the talking during group presentations. Dr. P tends to dominate almost all of the group presentations and obviously it's because he's smart and already knows everything but to dominate presentations all semester long and then speak up about it at the end of the semester was just really odd in my opinion. In class, he's funny, warm, and direct and in his office, he will give you all the help you need. But I think the structure of his class needs to change. Not only that, so does the reading, the stories could have been a lot more enjoyable. I'm not going to blame Dr. P for not giving me an A, but I still wish I could have earned one instead of a B. I also still lean towards thinking that people should take him, but just make sure you understand what he's looking for in your writing and as mentioned above, read the stories and go to class.
