Comment:

As can be expected in any law course, good grades are not easy to obtain. however, Don seems to intentionally leave criteria vague for tests, and gives no feedback on homework assignments. No one should expect to coast a law course and pass, but Don could make it a lot easier for students by providing some sort of expectation for case formatting.

This teacher knows what hes talking about when it comes to law, he is big on lectures and taking notes. He wants students to do well but doesnt care about them on a personal level, he is quite rude and disrespectful when it comes to his opinion

Don has a lot of experience and knowledge but he expects you to work just as hard as him. If you're lazy you won't like him but if you're there to learn he's absolutely the best choice!

Prof Don is an excellent prof who shares real life experience in his field which makes this course really interesting. Lecture are delivered in a great way, and Don transfers the knowledge in an excellent simplified way to make it easy to link the text with examples given by Don. I seriously learned a lot from him, and would take his courses again

Comment:

No doubt he is a great prof. but he is a tough marker and never wastes time in class. He always goes over time and if people are asking questions and it comes to the end of the class, he will sometimes say that you are asking too many questions and need to finish the lecture. Get ready to write lots. Take him if you don't get any other prof.

Don obviously knows what he's talking about, and expects you to have the same level of understanding as him. You better know the material word for word from the book, or you're going to have a bad time. AVOID. Take with a different prof!!!

Definitely not an easy class, but that is just the nature of this class. Don is very clear in his instruction, but you need to put in (some) effort yourself. Expect some reading (2-3 chapters per 2 weeks) and light homework. Do the homework and DON'T SKIP CLASS! Great prof, I recommend him but only if you are someone who can put effort in.

Passionate about what he teaches. Gives good grades if you put in the effort. As a fourth year class you must be willing and interested in learning to do well. Don is extremely knowledgeable but always respectful of other people's opinions.

He cares about the people who care. He gives a lot of notes, so your hand may hurt lol! Intense amount of memorization, but I think he is interesting, he knows his stuff. He will play with the grading percentages if you do bad on one exam and well on the others he might make it count for less. I would take again although half the class dropped it.

Business Law I and II are tough courses! His tests are fair. His grading scheme is clear. With Don there are NO surprises. Except one. YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO CARE ABOUT SCHOOL TO GET A GOOD MARK. Bottom line, Don is the real deal. If you can't handle an actual challenge, forget all your little dreams. Amazing teacher! WE NEED MORE DON VALERIS. Don

I took Ethical Decision making with Don in Winter 2014 and could not have been happier with what I learned. Be sure to know what your taking about. This course taught me the importance of being able to back up an argument with evidence. A skill that has helped me in my career :).

Worst prof I've ever had. I vowed that if I passed the class that I would write this. If you want to pass do the QT's in the textbook, his lectures are long, boring and useless. He's also not the nicest guy when you ask a question that he thinks is "dumb". AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I got the highest midterm mark, and I had 65%

He is an awful teacher, does not explain things but expects you to understand them. Have 2 papers for this class, he does not give any format or expectations and then marks really harshly if you assume wrong. He is a very mean scary teacher. Threatened to kicked people out of class if he didn't agree with your opinion.

Very disorganized when it comes to his directions. Want's something very specific for the essay and the case but won't tell you what it is. Unfortunately, he won't let any other prof teach this class, so all business degree students have to suffer through it. Good luck.

Mr Valeri. Has strict rules to his class. The content of the course has a lot of reading and memorizing. He is very picky on marking tests, vocab must be exact to the wording decribed, one or two words missed he will give you marks off. Its really hard to pass his tests. You must must read the book!!!Good luck if you take his class!

I don't know how I should explain Don. He is quite intimidating and his marking is very strict. Frankly, if you miss one or two words on a definition on a test, he'll take off a mark or two. On the other hand, he makes a lot of examples in class to make you understand topics. This course requires work, and Don will tell you that on Day One.

Don is a great teacher. He knows the material really well. Make sure you have the most recent edition of the text. He assigns cases out the text & they change with each addition. Make sure you know your vocab and statements of law. Tests are non-cumulative, but the final featured cases from Contracts, Torts & Property Law. Study hard for Contracts!
