Comment:
Dr. Chunn is a very good professor but she is not an entertainer so most 'kids' will consider her 'boring.' She's serious and old-school but she is a lovely person behind the shy exterior. I learned a LOT in her class and she is generous with her explanations.

Dorothy's classes are provoking and stimulating. You actually "learn" something. The readings are interesting too. I recommend her courses.

Good prof. I like her teaching style as it enhances the material that was read. Fair marker. Also very helpful when needed. Gender Relations course was focused on feminism and I loved it. Anti-feminists on here did not like her course. Duh! What did you think Gender Relations meant! Duh!

I like her, but not so much her teaching style. It's a four hour course with 1 1/2 of barely being understand what she's saying because she's so quiet, then the rest useless arguments between students and a short video. I have seen more than one person literally fall asleep in class.

Dorothy is very quiet and friendly, but when you email her for questions she does not like to adress you personally, but to the whole class instead, lacks social ability to respond to her students on this level. Another point is that she closes the door...can't come in after...anyhow...take another course from someone else, if possible.

Oh come on! Give Dorothy a break guys. If anything her lectures were interesting and stimulating. In fact, her arguments and opinions fascilitated discussions! She was a very fair marker as well. A really great lady. Do not believe these reveiews.

Comment:
Her assignments were vague. I disagree with a criminology professer teaching a sociology class. This class focused more on law than sociology to the disadvantage of the students. It was also problematic that this class was called "Gender Relations" but it focused more on Feminist theory and women than anything else.

If you are registered get out of the class...NOW! Chunn sits there and reads off her fully highlighted paper for the first part of the 3 hour seminar. Bring a pillow you will fall asleep!

can't lecture! when she speaks she jumps from topic to topic seamlessly, you don't know when one point ends and another begins. Her paper topics are ambiguous at best, and she relies on videos to teach rather than attempting herself.

dorothy is a great prof...readings are interesting and class discussions are generated often. She's a tough marker, but more than fair about it, and while her lectures may be dry at times, they are necessary to any complete understanding of the topic.

An apparently interesting topic (Crime, Media, Public) is relegated to utter boredom as she ambles on and on with no apparent passion. Not inspiring whatsoever. I feel sick Wednesday mornings knowing I have to endure 3 hours of this class.

When a prof makes you read original works, and the T.A.'s can't help because they say it's a Master's level textbook, we have a problem. Readings were completely useless - got more out of a 30 minute tutorial with Kevin Bonneycastle than any lectures.

Boring lecturer - thought this class would be fun. She proved me wrong. Fairly hard marker as well. Lecture will not inspire you to want to learn or work.
