I thought I could slack like I did my previous math classes and I was wrong, but he helped me out tremendously towards the last few weeks and I was able to manage a decent grade. Incredibly helpful. The class itself was good, he breaks things down barney-style and presents the material clearly. Great teacher.

Doug is by far the best math professor I have had. He is patient and will explain things many different ways until you find one that works for you. He is funny. Go to class and do homework. Test are very easy if you did your homework.

Comment:

I had over a year between math 98 and math 99. I was rusty coming into the quarter but Mr. Mooers always had positive encouragement. Class notes (he writes on the board and you can copy or photograph) are now helping me in math 141 pre-calculus! Dr. Mooers really helped me turn math around and understand concepts, I am so glad I took his class.

Comment:

Prof Mooers is the best professor I've had in Math. Lectures are fine, but his clarity is extremely remarkable. He writes out the procedure for solving every single kind of problems STEP by STEP. I took Math 163 like 1.5 year ago and now I am reviewing for a 400 level class. It surprises me how the notes are still useful after 1.5 year taking it!!

GREAT TEACHER! He'll take extra time after to class to answer questions you need help with and If you need things explained as if you're an 8 y/o he'll do that too. He keeps things light and isn't afraid to admit when he make a mistake. Doug is the man!

Mr. Mooers is a great educator. He is quick to understand your learning method and takes time to be sure you get it. No tolerance for slackers, be warned and don't take up space if you're not there to learn. In the two years I was at Whatcom, he was the most dedicated instructor I had.

I highly recommend Mr. Mooers to anyone who wants/needs to take calculus. His teaching style should work as he uses many different techniques to satisfy all types of students. Though his classes are not easy, your understanding of the concepts will make these classes easier. Mr. Mooers is very passionate about math and always happy to help.

Doug is the best professor I've ever had. He takes the time to make sure everyone understands the topic, has a lot of knowledge on the subject and shows up every day with a smile. His tests are hard but fair and he expects a lot from you but you can always go talk to him. Even if you don't like math I suggest you take one of his classes.

He cracks jokes and makes you think about math in a different way. He is truly excited to answer questions. If you don't understand a concept he wants you to ask questions so you can be successful! He also shows you 2 or 3 different ways to solve the same problem and takes the time to make sure you understand every method. A++ for Mr. Mooers

Dr. Mooers is a very different professor than my previous calc instructors. The class was at eight in the morning, but he'd keep us engaged by talking in accents and goofing off. Surprisingly, this worked. He's also very clear and will explain anything you're having trouble understanding, but sometimes his tests can be tricky. Grades are 90% exams!

THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER MET! If every teacher learns his teaching method, no student will ever want to miss a class in their life and no student will ever have to fail a class as well. His method of teaching is by far the MOST effective! I would take his class if I were you!

His corny jokes keep you interested, all the while, actually helping you remember some of the subject matter. Mr. Moores is an excellent instructor that has a style of teaching that's ideal for those returning to college or that struggle with math and the style doesn't take away from those that are excellent at math.
