Comment:

After 4 Calc courses with him i can honestly say he is my top Prof. Calc is hard, but he makes it totally doable and even fun at times. Get to know him and you'll love his sense of humor. gets the class laughing every class. He always has time to help in his office and know exactly how to explain every math problem even if it isn't his course.

Comment:

Cool professor. Humerous too. Makes the class laugh about twice a class. Teaches mostly out of his head, explains everything clearly and makes everything simple. No wierd proofs, just good ol calculus. Very good teacher. Very approachable. Makes calc way simpler than the textbook and easier but still you need to do a lot of textbook problems.

Dr. Pickering was a great professor. He's not as great as Dr. Williams though. It might take you a week or two to get used to him and his teaching style. Overall, awesome guy and instructor. Explains new concepts well, thoroughly, and quickly. Good sense of humor too. Not super easy but still quite FAIR.

A very good teacher, but a little bit of a fast talker, but he does stop for lots of class input. Though tests and exams seem to focus on certain areas more where it seems like it should be more balanced, I enjoyed being taught by him.

Very knowledgeable and has a lot to teach the students. Questions on tests and exams are sometimes classic theorem proofs. These usually involve a complex series of theorems used in a way that was not presented in class. They ARE presented in the textbook. Grades on a curve, final marks are usually much higher than apparent from test marks.

He does sound like a robot. Explanations and examples in class are clear enough and labs are fair. Midterm and final exams were surprisingly hard when compared to what was encountered in labs and class.

When I first had him, I wasn't to impressed, but after the "CK Li experience" I realized that Pickering is a good prof (you just have to know how to study for the tests). I can't wait to take Calc 2 from him.

Tests are fairly easy, but the midterm and the final can kill you. For the final mark though he also looks at how much effort you put into the course throughout the year and your mark in relation to others, so it's not too bad
