Uncle Doug was one of my best profs first year. Super interesting to listen to and is very passionate about literature. His deep analysis of topics was very interesting and I intend on taking future classes with him. His marking isn't as bad as some people say. This is a University course you should be able to explain well and have good grammar

Extremely interesting, but hard to listen too for an extended period of time of certain topics.He expects a lot from his students, so therefore marks pretty hard at first. I enjoyed his class, he picked interesting literature! He is overall a pretty cool guy and wish I took more classes from him.

He is one of the absolute best professors I have had in my four years at X. I was lucky enough to have him twice(250/320). He made me a better writer, and influenced my love of English, and also encouraged me in personal matters as well. Very easy to talk to, and very helpful. Take his Class!

This prof is pretty laid back most of the time...he cracks lots of jokes and seems down to earth. He is a very hard marker though and anal about spelling etc.-even if you think you're okay at writing, you'll shortly find out you're NOT! He's an author so he's extremely picky. Classes felt sooo long and were the kind you DREADED going to.

This guy has too many other things on the go. Seems that his teaching is secondary to his private life as a writer. Lots of missed classes, always distracted. Only AFTER your final assignment is handed in does he tell you what he really thinks of your work, far from helpfull. Nice guy, disappointing class.

Great professor. Will go on rants which usually take up most of the class. For creative writing the only work you have to complete is a 15 page work to be handed in at the end of the semester. Easy and by far my favorite class to attend. Doug also leaves a lot, so often times class gets cancelled.

can i say sex-maniac? all this guy talks about is delaying the pleasure etc. but really, great prof, analyzes the stories well in class and is happy if you just regurgitate it back to him on an exam. prone to outbursts which are hilarious. he makes me laugh every class by doing smth eccentric.

He's a decent prof. He expects you to be writing and reading at a university level. He is boring and he has a "I've seen and done it all attitude" which can come off as prickish. He seems to over analyze work. Which is like dissecting a frog. Few people are interested and the frog dies of it... E.B. White said that, or something like that...

He is very clear in his lectures, and puts a lot of value in students who can repeat the points he makes in their essays. I enjoyed him, because he made our readings understandable and relevent. He is a bit dull, but you won't be bored if you pay attention to the stories he covers.
