Comment:

Doug is well-intentioned, but doesn't seem to be super into what he is teaching. I was super excited for Developmental, but lectures are aggressively average and I didn't want to approach him again after being snubbed the first time. My Virtual Child is great though. Worthwhile if you're interested in Dev, if not don't take a class with him.

Comment:

Attendance isn't mandatory. He mostly sticks to the text, so you'll need to read that. He seems a bit bored with the class, but to be fair, most of my class was on facebook and paying no attention to the poor guy. He slips a few jokes in now and again, and when he does, they're pretty funny. Overall, a good guy.

Echoing all of the other comments, Doug really doesn't care about his intro class. The content has so much potential, and he finds a way to make it incredibly dull and phenomenally boring. Some people get higher marks by reading the night before than they do going to class and taking notes. He sticks solely to the textbook, and the exams are stupid

You're better off reading the textbook than going to class, I didn't find him much help. Somehow manages to make a lecture that could be extremely interesting quite boring. Doesn't really seem like he wants to be teaching the course honestly. His midterms have a lot of material that was not covered in class, so definitely stick to the book.

Unfortunately, you will encounter Doug for pysch 2 so you may as well get used to him. He doesn't really seem like he wants to be here just as much as we don't want him teaching. His test questions are ambiguous and you will always end up focusing your exam prep on the complete opposite of what he tests you on. Overall, not a fan what-so-ever.

Basically jut read the text book and you should be good. Heads up, the power points are posted with all content, but they are not in order so be ready to skip around because he doesn't follow the textbook. Lectures are slow.

His lectures basically sum up the readings from the textbook. He discussed the more interesting parts, but his classes were enjoyable. Lectures are helpful for reinforcing textbook material, but not mandatory, and you'll still need to read the textbook. He also brings a great sense of humour into the classroom, and prepare for GoT references.

He is the worst prof I have ever had. He's very boring and unorganized. You literally have to search through the entire textbook to find a specific thing he wants you to read. Never taking a class with him again!

Very knowledgeable about the subject matter, however it doesn't matter what professor teaches this course it will be based in the textbook. Will stay after class to answer questions but dismisses you easily. Honestly if you spent the time you should be in this class in your room truly reading the textbook (phones off)you would be better off.

Utterly useless, every class was a nightmare but he was dean of the department and class attendance was monitored, so we had to go. Arrogant and unhelpful outside of class, boring in class. Would cancel class (an 8:30) and only tell us after- just awful.
