I get a kick out of all the people who say he's mean. Dr. Dunsmore doesn't like crap and he doesn't take any. He really dislikes when people are stiff and hypersensitive because that's counter-productive to a conductor. The people who dislike him generally are the people who didn't get into chamber choir or who expected something for nothing.

Maybe he's harder on his more "advanced" ensembles, but to me he seemed like a genuinely nice guy underneath the sometimes gruff exterior, and he is a great conductor too.

Dunsmore is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He expects a lot, which is only fair at the university level. He is always ready to help his students, and is there for them LONG after they graduate. Anyone at Memorial...I suggest working with this teacher. He is amazing!

Dr. Dunsmore is a very clear, helpful prof. He does have high expectations, but he will do anything to help you reach them. His door is "always open" to get some help. He's not one to give away marks, but he will help those who go looking for it. Someone who knows his stuff.

Dr. Dunsmore is an excellent choral conductor, and yet quite an idiot at teaching the art. If you want to survive, learn to enjoy choir. If you want to excel, start bringing him coffee. If you want to be a choral conductor, drop out NOW and go elsewhere.

Agree with just about everyone's comments. POWER happy! Ridiculed me for a conducting element in front of entire class and then I notice him using the same thing the next week in Chamber Choir; why? because it worked! Absolutely terrible.
