Great professor! Makes the class interesting, a lot of discussions. Very clear. Tells you what to expect on the test, what pages to read. Tests are not hard, but he uses a lot of info form his lectures. Power Points are helpful. Read the book, your lecture notes and power points and you'll get an A.

I found this class very interesting. Kept class moving, not afraid to try new group exercises to see what works/what doesn't. Summer class-tests were all essay and yes, you need to know how to apply concepts learned in class, but you don't have to "regurgitate" material - it is a bit more intellectual than that. I thought he graded fairly.

The course could have been very beneficial... but it wasn't. Projects were not really necessary for the course. I felt like I was being graded on my writing ability rather than my understanding of the material. I would not recommend this professor.

I really enjoyed Dr. Pugh's summer class. Lots of work but he made it enjoyable and very interesting. Don't know about the previous postings but he laughed a lot in our class! Would definately take another class with him

This guy is dry. Our goal all semester was to make him laugh, and we failed miserably. If you ask a question in class-he will answer “umm I’m a highly educated man umm and didn’t you read umm?” Lectures straight from powerpoints. I bet he has recited the same lectures over 20times. Overall if you can get by the boredom, it’s not that bad of a class

Class was fairly interesting. Keep up with the readings! Focus on PPT slides for the exams! Tests weren’t terribly difficult, the questions were pretty broad. It's true, focus on regurgitation and APPLYING CLASS CONCEPTS TO THE READINGS and you'll do well. Pugh is pretty aloof and not too friendly. I made an A but I had to work my butt off for it.

Standoffish to the point of rude with students. Can sometimes be arrogant. On exams, desires rote memorization/regurgitation rather than thinking and fresh ideas. Needs to challenge graduate students more!

Quite impressed with himself - the lectures and journal readings are most important. He gives good insight into the exam material. Lectures are prettty interesting but be cautioned on taking a contrary position during class discussions.
