Objective report: had to buy 4 texts. Only used Caps/Spelling. Did not once use the actual textbooks he recommended. Why? What's in those J texts he finds so problematic? hes tough, but reasonable. I find him very approachable. The only teacher who actually encourages students. While everyone else is trying to put us down, he at least reminds us that we were chosen for a reason and that we all have talent to some degree.

I don't think he's still at RRC, but I'd study with him again. Super old-school and hard-a** (he'd take that as a compliment), but I can honestly say I was never once penalized for anything I didn't know I would be. Very clear with expectations and sticks to them - students who also did had no problems at all.

Duncan McMonagle is a lot like Truman Capote...arrogant, awkward, and untrustworthy. I'd also like to point out that I graduated Cre-Comm with a 4.29 GPA, so the reason I despise him is not because I'm "lazy"...it's because he's a punk. He was obviously bullied in school as a child, which is likely why he enjoys pushing his students around now

I think Duncan is a good teacher. He knows what he is talking about and is very clear on assignments. Regarding previous comments: some people don't like hard work, and they'd rather bad-mouth the prof than fess up they're lazy and spoiled.

Don't ask for help because he won't help you. As a matter of fact he won't even teach the class. He will have the students teach the class. He is not approachable. You're on your own in his class. Just show up for attendance. I learned more in one class of high school journalism than I did in four weeks of Duncan's class. He is a stubborn ahole.
