Comment:

Prior to what some other people commented about Dr. Emmer, I happened to find him very funny. I did not really feel prepared for his final much but as long as you pay attention for the most part, it is an easy A. His jokes in my opinion were hilarious, and he did force you to think about what he was saying if you truly wanted to learn. Great guy.

The class can get boring at times, but it all depends on your interest level. He knows what he is talking about and doesn't purposely try to offend people, but instead blames it on Socrates. Funny but I suggest if you don't have a motivation to learn, its not worth taking the class other than for the easy A.

Took him for a summer class and he was great!!! He is a smart man who happens to be very easy and hysterical. He is not offensive and tells you how the Greeks and Christians oppose each other when it comes to ethics. Lets you out early instead of having a break. Take him in the summer, only 2 quizzes and final is optional. I would take him again.

If you think he's smart guess again. He cancelled class twice because I out smart him at his own liberal game. Hates Christians and actually told the class that the founding fathers were NOT christians. Also held my grade for 2 semesters and had to get the dean to make him give me a passing grade even with all A's.

THE MOST LIBERAL TEACHER YOU WILL EVER HAVE. BORDERLINE SOCIALIST. CLASS IS EXTREMELY BORING. having said this class is very easy, he knows a lot about philosophy, most homework you will ever receive is to read a page or two in the book.

This guy is absolutely hilarious, I will recommend him for anyone in need for an easy grade. Although the classes may be boring, his attempts to keep the class occupied with jokes usually work, and if he gets bored as well he just lets us out early. Emmer is awesome.

Very low effort class. Your grade is determined by 2-3 quizzes and a final paper. His quizzes are the easiest that you will ever take. They take about 5 min and then he lets you leave after them. As for the final paper, you will only need to take notes on one topic covered in class and write at least 1 and a half pg on it. Warning: very boring clas

Prof. Emmer is well qualified to teach philosophy. He knows the material well. This class can get a little dry at times, but its one of the easiest at St. Joe's. He has three quizzes, 10 questions each, multiple choice. You also have a final essay and an optional paper...i mean come on...can it get much easier?

He was pretty good. Funny, incredibly smart, Always willing to hear what you think about anything. Took him for intro; there is no midterm but there is a final, and he gives you the sheet with the questions on the first day of class. There's also a paper but it's completely optional.

He's a funny guy..makes the most hysterical little jokes to keep class going. Wants to make the material easy to understand, and doesn't believe in quizzes and tests, so there's only like 2 little ones during the semester. He really only likes people who speak up in class so make sure you participate!

I'm taking him now and to be quite blunt, he's rude. He is inappropriate with his comments and disrespectful. He's a very intelligent man, but not on my Top 5 Best Professors list. He says he hates giving tests/quizzes because they're a waste of time, thus his quizzes are very easy. The material is interesting, but he is not.

Good Professor. Interesting guy, tells you what the final is the first day of class. Makes a ton of jokes in class just to keep it going. Very helpful, you can find him or talk to him about anything at anytime. Gives a paper before the final, that is not mandatory and will increase your grade 1 grade level and it can be the final paper.
