To his credit, he knows the material he teaches fluently, and he's pretty funny at times. But there is no room for disagreement in his class. If you present a disagreement to his political/religious statements he laughs at you like your too young to understand. And 90% of the reading material is about sex; stopped reading the homework.

Honestly, I loved Ed. He can smell BS from a mile away and he WILL call you out on it if you try to scam him. He loves to challenge authority, blunt, and is a breath of fresh air. Before taking his class, I thought I was going to be bored out of my mind, but with his enthusiasm it ended up being one of my favorites.

This was not my favorite class. Ed is very biast & often knocks down on other's personal beleifs. He is very abrupt, crude, & blunt in his language & often goes on random tangents. I didn't really appreciate his humor or language, which he thought was hilarious. I would definately not take another class from him.

Loved his intro to lit class. He brings humor to literature, and helps his students understand things with more depth. Required in class quizzes, short essays, reading, and in class participation, but really not too hard of a class. Take his class if you can!

I was just taking this class for general ed and I have a dislike for literature. I ended up appreciating it more and coming out with an A. I found his stories very amusing.

If you're especially conservative, please don't sign up for Ed's class. For his sake, your sake, and the sake of humanity. Ed's an entertaining prof, an amusing speaker and a very interesting person. He's quite liberal, has no qualms addressing the most controversial subjects, and puts it all on the table. Prepare to be shocked and horrified! :)

If he wasn't a Quaker, I highly doubt that Prof. Higgins would have been at George Fox for very long, if at all. Like others have said, his class is a big tangent of him talking about what he likes and promoting his opinions. Whenever somebody brings up any argument against his opinion, valid or not, he just ridicules it. Other than that, easy A.

He has great intentions to expand the thoughts of students, the difficulty is though that there are several ways to do this, and he consistently uses the route of being provocative as a primary means.

Here's the thing about Ed. He likes to push the envelope, get reactions, and play devil's advocate. I can't say I agree with everything he does, but overall, I think what he says challenges the engaged student. There are two options for his class. Tune out. Or work hard to listen, push back when he pushes you, and learn from him. Choose the former.

My least favorite teacher of all-time.I did not learn a single thing. The class was just one big tangent. He tried constantly to stuff his stupid liberal crap down our throats. He would bait us, then, when someone proposed a valid counter argument, would refuse to discuss it.He was incredibly offensive. And definitely not a merit grader.Don't take him!

My least favorite professor as far as instruction is concerned...We never learn anything because he never actually teaches. We either watch movies or listen to him talk about his farm. I'm in the class to learn, not to watch some uber liberal try and purposefully cause controversy in his classroom. I have no motivation to attend his class other than that it is a major requirement (I am a theatre major). There is SO MUCH amazing stuff you could learn from theatre, none of which he addresses.

You're a nut! And a lovable one at that!!! I'm not sure how much of you I can take though... His lectures are really scatterbrained and he rabbits all over the place. But it can be a lovable quirk too. And he's Satan! Who doesn't love Satan?!

My last class of the day is also my favorite. It's such a treat to come in and relax to Higgins' cynical, slightly overdone humor. I really enjoy his method of helping us relate to myths and legends to gain a clearer understanding of them. Some of the things he says are really outrageous, but you just have to take it with a large sackful of salt.

Skullets are sexy! Among other physical quirks, Ed has proudly sported the skullet for a number of years now. He thinks it's hot. He is right. He will happily spend an entire class session ranting about his parrot that hates him or his wife's terrier, or that one time when he saw his grandmothers nipple. He really likes snakes though too. His tests, if he ever gives them, are easy and you don't ever need to prepare for class because you probably won't even go over the reading anyway. Ed Higgins beautiful

Love this guy but he tries a little too hard to shock students some times. He really enjoys his job and wants the students to enjoy his classes while learning a lot. I thought he was pretty easy but some people struggle with him.
