Goofy guy. Knows his stuff, but isn't a great teacher. For a 100 level class, pretty hard. He threw chalk during lecture twice, which was sweet.

Dr. Kannel is defiantly the worst professor I have had this far. He knows what he is talking about but is incapable of teaching. It just upsets me that the semester I have him is his last here. His tests are extremely hard and in order to do good in them you need to have taught yourself how to do it. Future students are lucky he is retiring.

Kannel is probably the worst professor I have had yet at ISU. He knows his stuff about surveying, but he does not teach it wellat all. He doesn't give examples of problems very well and his exams were extreme. average on the 1st and 2nd exams were in the low 60s

The largest shock I found in the class was how much work and time was involved. He asigns a ton of work for only a 3 credit hour class. I can say I learned quite a bit, but I put more time towards understanding what he was doing, and doing homework than I spent in my calc class! Also, be prepared for nasty exams and misleading wording on exams.

It is clear that he knows what he is talking about, unfortunately he just doesn't have the ability to pass on any of the imformation. His lectures are poorly thought out, and even worsely executed. He has no clue as on how to actually teach anything at all. Everything learnd in CE 111 is self obtained knollege.

This guy's on another planet. I can't understand anything he says, and he goes off on these bizarre tangents. Unfortunately, I don't think there's another option for a lot of the classes he teaches.

Like others have said, he is very hard to follow. He's very scatterbrained. His exams are poorly worded. My class had to conduct a "statistical analysis" of our data for a project. Well, he never gave a stat refresher, and some items he requested were topics we didn't cover in Stat 101/105.
